I have noticed the same slightly loose spacebar on the new Sammy i bought for my wife. I guess she may have to live with it unless there is a simple way of fixing it:)
StriderMemberIt is true that the speakers are quiet when on full. I use FFDSHOW to watch avi files and if you tweak the volume settings (in the FFA icon on the task bar), you can improve the sound by upto 300%.
Oddly, BBC iPlayer always seems to be loud and clear without any adjustements:)

StriderMemberYou need to add Samsung to the list of hard drives as the replacement black NC10 I got yesterday has one (manufacturing date 10/12/08
StriderMemberOn the box that the leads and CDs came in is a version number – these relate to cd updates (ie they include later drivers)
I got another new sammy today and it had a production date of 10/12/08 and version 1.6 on the small box. The bios was 03ca.
Unfortunately I had to take my old NC10 back ‘cos the tracker pad failed in return I received a black version without a date on the box – it had the noisiest WD hard drive ever, twice as loud as the fan. I took it back to Currys and was given what they said was one from their latest batch. My new sammy also has a Samsung hard drive:)
StriderMemberIt is called BattStat.
A version is available from this site

StriderMemberI had an ASUS 900 and the default fan speed on them is very loud.
I find that the hard drive on my NC10 is noisier than the fan

… I wonder if it’s a problem with virus/firewall or other running applications that is making it take two goes other people. They only change I’ve noticed is the ability to set the fan control in BIOS
[/quote1230022104]Dunno, I use AVG Internet Security on my NC10
StriderMemberCheers for the update PM, i don’t feel so bad now i know someone else had to do two bios updates to get it to work:)

Well it doesn’t up the graphics from 128mb to 256mb in windows xp.
[/quote1229959731]Yup, that’s what I found:((
I wish Samsung would explain what changes they make when the release bios updates..

I have just downloaed it and will try it later as am on battery power at the mo. Hopefully it will sort out the 256MB for graphics if you have 2GB of RAM issue:)
[/quote1229941776]The sammy has 256mb of graphics ram with 1gb?!
[/quote1229952963]I wondered whether or not the bios upgrade would re-allocate some of the 2GB of RAM to the graphics (upping the 128mb to 256mb.
Cheers
StriderMemberDid you check the installation as the first time i did it only the Micom was flashed? I was left with the03CA bios.
I ran the installation again and it worked – gulp:)))))

StriderMemberYou may wish to redirect your My Documents folder to the D drive, that way if you need to reinstall Windows, you don’t lose your files.
Cheers

StriderMemberOn one of the tabs in the cardboard box your NC10 came in should be a date (which may be either production or packing date). I have had several NC10’s, several with 19 October 2008 and 1 with 4 November 2008. The one I have currently (due to various faults) has a date of 12 November 2008.
