Hi All,
based on some of the threads/issues raised here I’ve put together a small survey.
As it’s a free account it is restircted to 1000 responses , once there’s a reasonable response I’ll start posting the results here.If you have more than one Sammy or are on a replacement then you may complete the survey for each one.

A general picture of us being Netbook virgins but with at least 2 and in most cases 3+ computers already at home who enjoy fiddling (at least half have already performed a RAM upgrade with the majority of the remainder planning on doing so so go on Mr Samsung, give us 2GB as standard 🙂 ) who adopted Sammy for personal reasons is emerging.
Looking at the 3 main issues picked up from the forums , the ‘Screen blotching’ issue doesnt seem as prevalent as people are worried about (although there is no denying it exists), fan noise is notconsidered a problem and the sound output is best descrtibed as ‘adequate’
Once I’ve got some more results in(and a bit more time) I’ll do a breakdown based on colour,flap date etc etc
Nice survey good idea! It’s interesting that for most NC10 owners this is their first netbook. I think this is because the NC10 is the 1st all-rounder that covers what most people want in a netbook. It’s certainly why I got one. This is definately reflected in the forum, we’re all here discussing our new favourite toy!
I was thinking of doing a colour poll, but this is better. 😀
I took the survey, but couldn’t add the manufacture date as the box is stashed away in the loft.
At the moment Black is the colour of choice (52%), Whites in second at 28% closely followed by blue at 20%
Thats based on 25 responses (in work so wont be posting a full results update until tomorrow AM around 9ish)
Interestingly on the HDD front we now have 1 Other , a WDC_WD1600BEVT-35ZCT1 which I suspect is a Western Digital to add to the Toshs, Hitachis & Fujitsus
This is my first attempt at constructing a Poll, hope I got the balance right.
Tried to keep it fairly general but also concentrate on issues that have arisen.
Left out the trackpad as there’s not a lot can be done about the size of that but included sound quality as potentially there could be different speakers fitted

That’s a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160GB drive. I wonder which hard drive is the quietest (or fastest), mine is a Fujitsu and is pretty noisy complete with low woosh spinning, loud seeks and marble drop park noises.With the dual boot OS question I went with Vista as it’s now my main, although I do have Linux installed as well. I wonder if the people answering other to the OS question are installing another edition of Windows e.g. XP Pro or some other OS.
Anyway, good questionnaire and interesting results.

Blue is catching up on Black as the favourite colour but that could be because the Black isn’t available in some parts ;o)
It’s looking as though you have a 1 in 11 chance of getting a blotchy screen and there are a handful out there who find the fan ‘slightly noisy’
Overall the sound is still mainly adequate, we have a couple of goods but no excellents and we still only have 1 Western Digital spotted.
that would be an interesting comparison, I guess the hard part would be tracking down the 4 alternatives, getting them into one room and running identical tests

I answered the other day! For next survey I would suggest adding a question about how much battery wear you have.
I also have Fujitso. Glad to know that the noise is due to the particular Fujitso harddrive. I initially thought that there is something wrong with my Sammy since most reviews indicated that the netbook is very quiet.
Just getting ready for work, latest results are in.
