MemberI recently wiped my HDD and did a complete backup of all of my data onto an external hard drive and then restored my computer. However, when I returned to SRS after wiping the computer and go to data restore I receive the following error: “Unable to find backup file information.”
Which is weird because I’m looking directly at a folder called “SamsungRecovery” on my external hard drive that contains 26 files that begin with “user1.w” as well as one called “user1.wcl” and another called “user1.woo”. Why is SRS not picking up these files and restoring my data?

Memberhave you ‘upgraded’ to version 5 from ver 4?
the Recovery program is looking for the hidden recovery partition on your netbook, NOT the one you saved to…
I’ve just cloned my HDD by making all the correct sized partitions, copying the relevant data to the new HDD/Partitions and it cannot find the recovery partition… I tried Ver 5 – no joy… this program is older than the one already on your computer (HOW? I’d uninstalled ver 4)..
anyway back to you,If you deleted your partitions… SRS will not work…
Here is how another member did it… (which is what I did)…

MemberI used SRS ver. 5 to do a complete backup before wiping the HDD, and I’m on Windows 7 by the way. I’m not exactly tech-savvy, so I don’t know what you mean by “hidden recovery partition”. Where is this partition supposed to be located?

Participanteatmgm – Welcome to the forum
You need to re-create the hidden 15GB Recovery partition on the hdd, if you wiped it, which can be done with the Samsung Admin Tool on a bootable USB stick. Once created install the Samsung Recovery Solutions 5 application and restore your backup from your external hdd. Details and the download link are in this post.
Hope this helps

MemberIf the phone is connected to the computer using a USB cable (or if you’ve plugged the memory card into a card reader on the PC), then decent commercial recovery software will be able to analyze and recover files just the same as if it was a HDD.
