Just to throw a spanner in the works, the latest models 150+, NC10+, N210+ etc are supposed to be more energy efficient and therfore have a longer battery life. Apparently there is something in the bios that makes it more efficient when hibernating and and quick when turning on.
Personally I am thinking of the N210+ (w/o the H/D card). The ones in Argos are one of the latest batches from Samsung (July 2010) and they have a good returns policy if there is a fault.
Amazon have the new NC10+ which is basically a N210+ in an N150 body.
Confused – welcome to Samsungs unique way of producing laptops:))
StriderMemberRegarding the webcam, don’t forget it is only 0.3 mega pixels. A great free piece of software if you install another version of Windows is ManyCam.
StriderMemberHi Phantom
When I got my N150, I just removed the games, Office, Samsung Movies and McAfee.
Do not uninstall FailSafe (anti-theft tracking trial software) as there have been a number of members whose machines have jammed up as the machine thinks it has been stolen/hacked.
You would be better of registering the software, and then requesting an uninstallation key. Then you can get rid of the program.
Don’t forget to use Samsung Recovery to back up the system.
Alternatively, you can load a clean version of Windows 7 (I have Win7 Pro) and you will have no crapware at all:)
Cheers

StriderMemberPersonally, I have stuck with the 1GB RAM. I borrowed a 2GB stick, tried it and noticed virtually no difference. With my 1GB I am able to watch BBC iPlayer and load Word 2010 with no issues at all. I would consider saving your money unless you are planning to run more demanding apps.
StriderMemberI had this with my NC10. I think it was all down to the the balance of the machine when the screen/lid was open. If you open your netbook from one side of the lid (rather than the middle), you end up putting more stress on one of the two hinges which can affect the overall balance of the machine, leading to one corner of the base unit not resting on the surface.
Sounds odd i know
StriderMemberI think it is more likely that Samsung only have those drivers on SUP that they know work fully with their systems
StriderMemberI think it is more likely that Samsung on host those drivers on SUP that they know work fully with their systems
StriderMemberI think it is more to do with a duff driver as the fault has now been widely reported. The latest one I have for my N150 is this:8.14.10.2108
StriderMemberI too had a problem with the latest Intel3150 driver stopping me being able to change the brightness. The latest one that ones is 8.14.10.2108
StriderMemberTo be honest with you, you would be better off doing a clean install of Win 7 Pro. Even if you delete all the crapware there will still be remnents left in the registry etc. I recently bought an N150 and the first thing I did was put on a clean version of Win 7 Pro. It took a couple of hours but was well worth it:)
StriderMemberDon’t worry too much yet. Let the battery run down to say 50 % and the try recharging it. It can take a few charges for your battery to give accurate readings. If you have tried it a few times and it is still not getting to 100%, press F2 when you boot and go into the BIOS screen. Select the smart battery calibration tool which will discharge and then recharge your battery.
That should sort out your problems. Failing that, take it back to the shop.
Cheers

StriderMemberFunnily enough I have just ordered one from eBay for £15:
StriderMemberTo be honest, if there is nothing wrong with your NC10 then I would stick with it. I only changed to the N150 because a killed my NC10. I deffo think that the Sammy netbooks are a league above most other manufacturers.
StriderMemberIf you like the Sammy NC10, the I can recommend the N150 for £250 from PC World in the UK
