Welp, here’s my NC10 desktop!
November 21, 2008 at 11:59 pm #170339jonbadMemberWhat is that bizarre icon thing at the top?! It’s like a Vista Mac!
Cool piccy 🙂No point showing mine, it still looks like it did when it arrived lol
November 22, 2008 at 1:26 am #170359dougpMemberIt’s rocket dock … pretty darn handy, wouldn’t compare it to the dock in OSX though.
November 22, 2008 at 9:27 am #170340jonbadMemberHow come? Looks just like it to me… although it’s at the top lol 😛
November 22, 2008 at 9:38 am #170357TheRingMemberyeah i put rocket dock on and gotta say its a godsend
November 22, 2008 at 5:54 pm #170341jonbadMemberThanks for the RocketDock software Dougp – I really like it. I still don’t get why you said it’s not like MAC as I read a little on the site and the about page on the program and it even says it was developed on a mac by some mac fans!
Anyways, some TweakUI – ing later and a wallpaper change (I am also running the Royale Noir theme) here’s the result (Very MAC):Shrunk to 66% as is easier to see it all when looking at this site on the NC10 🙂
UPDATE: Intel Powered Mac wallpaper (modified) – suits the black case of the NC10 VERY nicely black/orange combination.November 24, 2008 at 5:39 pm #170384redheightsMemberThanks for the links dougp
Very Nice screenshots!
Im configuring one of these puppies for my gf Ill post a screen up when I do.
I had used object desktop to get her pc to look like a mac before.
It looks like RocketDock is a nice free solution.
Ill have to compare with the new version of object dock

November 24, 2008 at 7:57 pm #170335jezMembernice screen shots, I have no idea how you achieve that kind of effect – any tips?
Looks really smart.
PS to change widths in the img tags you can use [img style=width:50%]pic url[/img]
I’ve edited the too above to fit the forum!November 24, 2008 at 8:29 pm #170383OneTimeMemberhttp://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12958026&postcount=484

[/quote1227558900]You can find all kinds of icons at deviantart.com – just browse to Customize -> Icons -> Dock and there’s a lot. If you want to search for mine specifically, you can search for “170 Icons” and it will come up.
As for why I said it’s not like Mac – the dock on the mac is basically like task manager + quick launch rolled into one. For a PC, this can exist solely as a method to launch apps instead of managing windows also 😉 A lot more flexibly than the OSX dock.

[/quote1227572055]Ahh I see. So it’s just taking an element of the OSX version and it’s appearance. Makes sense now, thanks. 🙂
There is one setting in Rocket Dock I’ve found which is useful and enables you to minimise things to Rocket Dock instead of the the windows taskbar which I find pretty useful. Using this and ALT-TAB to go between open applications I’m finding I only use the windows taskbar to shut down! Thanks for the DeviantArt suggestion too, I had forgotten that existed for things like icons (even though I have an account on there lol).
Good stuff!
November 25, 2008 at 11:04 am #170389jordibMemberhey im new to this site. i just got my NC10 on saturday past, i must say its a great wee machine. i was readin this post and thought id try the rocketdock, it is such a handy tool, makes the comp look so much nicer too. i wud show u my desktop but i dont know how to get images in the post, total nooob i know.
November 25, 2008 at 11:57 am #170349RsaeireMemberI just want to say thank you to the user that mentioned Rocket Dock, as I installed it on my laptop last night, will be doing the same on my NC10 tonight, and absolutely love it!
I’ve gone for blue and black themed icons, where possible, as it matches my desktop theme, and I think it looks really well. I don’t like having desktop wallpaper either, so I just have a dark grey background. I never look at the desktop, so I always found it pointless in having a cool image on it the whole time.
