Hello,
I bought my samsung last wednesday at John Lewis in Norwich. My laptop is black, has version 1.5 on the box and a western Digital 160gb hd. It is a very quiet laptop.
i received my black nc10 from amazon.co.uk on wednesday the 17th. it also has 1.5 printed on the box containing power leads and battery. there is however no date on any box. the wd hdd runs quieter than the internal fan which only comes on when the cpu temp reaches ~40oC. my unit has shipped with the 02ca bios release and has a cpt/chunghwa picture tubes display with no blotches. the samsung.com/uk site does have the drivers for this device if you enter model np-nc10. On the box that the leads and CDs came in is a version number – these relate to cd updates (ie they include later drivers)
I got another new sammy today and it had a production date of 10/12/08 and version 1.6 on the small box. The bios was 03ca.
Unfortunately I had to take my old NC10 back ‘cos the tracker pad failed in return I received a black version without a date on the box – it had the noisiest WD hard drive ever, twice as loud as the fan. I took it back to Currys and was given what they said was one from their latest batch. My new sammy also has a Samsung hard drive:)
