MemberSamuel – Yup, you’re spot on. It has a switch next to the battery so you can choose between 2.4Ghz wireless or Bluetooth. With the regular wireless, you use the dongle (which also doubles as a 1Gb memory stick), the bluetooth requires you to provide your own adaptor which the NC10 already includes.
The recharging facility is quite nifty. The cable has magnetic connectors – one end attaches to a spot under the mouse with a little groove for the cable so you can still use the mouse while charging. The other end attaches to the end of the USB dongle. You can charge this way with the mouse in either wireless or Bluetooth mode.

MemberCongrats on getting your NC10 – and welcome to Club Blue! 😀
It’s interesting that people are having more luck finding NC10s in Currys than PC World, or even online for that matter. I got my blue from Currys too.
I’m not particularly bothered by the fingerprints either. Oh and I removed the big orange sticker with the specs on next to the touchpad, enormous bloody thing lol.

MemberUnfortunately jonbad, while that is the case if you have already paid for the goods, your supermarket example is completely different. If you have not yet completed a transaction, a store can refuse to sell you an item rather than honour a cheaper price and are well within their rights to do so. That’s why the phrase “errors and omissions excepted” is often used – it’s a legal get-out clause for when companies advertise something incorrectly.
Some companies however will honour a lower price as an act of good will, but this is by no means a legal requirement.

MemberI’ve spent much of the last 48 hours researching which mouse to get and was actually quite disappointed with the available options. I didn’t want anything too expensive (£15 max), but it needed to be small, have two side buttons and a micro-dongle. You wouldn’t believe how much difficulty I had finding something that met that criteria (found a Trust model online, but wanted to try before buying) and in the end I realised I would have to up my budget.
I nipped into PC World and they had the Logitech VX Nano reduced to £29.99. Trouble was, I’m not keen on the ambidextrous design and according to a couple of reviews I’d read, the scroll wheel button cannot be customised.
I then looked at two Microsoft mice – the Memory Mouse 8000 and the Bluetrack that levelry mentioned ealier. I loved the shape of the former and the blue glow on the latter. Only problem was that neither had a small dongle.
After hmm-ing and haa-ing for a good half an hour (poor hubby was getting bored lol) I decided that it was more important to have a comfy mouse than a small dongle – so I went for the Memory Mouse 8000 (which had the biggest dongle of the lot).
Got it home, plugged it in to charge and checked out the manual, whereupon I discovered it also has bluetooth! This isn’t mentioned anywhere on the packaging! After charging, I switched it to bluetooth mode, connected it up and it works a treat.
Very happy I chose this little guy. Product page here for anyone who’s interested. 🙂
EDITED TO ADD – Mouse cost me £39.99. Bit more than my original budget lol, but definitely worth it.

Memberlarrybda – the lid on the blue has a pearlised glitter look which comes across as grainy in photos – it’s like the premium metallic finish you often see on cars. It’s completely smooth however. 🙂

MemberBlue model: Looks more sophisticated (IMHO) and dirt doesn’t show up so easily. The lid is glossy and does show fingerprints, but I like the look and it only takes a second to wipe away any smudges.
Blue makes a nice difference from the more commonly-used black and white but remains a very subtle, elegant shade.

MemberThis may not be the proper way to remove it, but it worked for me:
Right-click on the desktop. In the “Arrange Icons By” submenu, there should be the option “Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard” – click it.
The wizard will show you all icons on your desktop. Make sure the My Bluetooth Places icon is ticked and click Next, then Finish.
Your bluetooth icon will now be in a folder on your desktop called “Unused Desktop Shortcuts”. Delete the folder and the bluetooth icon will go with it.
Hope this helps. 🙂

MemberWell, I’ve just been fiddling with Steam for a couple of hours and have mixed results.
Steam itself says it doesn’t recognise the graphics card, but allowed me to proceed anyway.
HL2 runs, but crashes straight after a load point. Reloading from that point works fine, until you get to the next one and it crashes again. I tried it on high settings (which were recommended by default) minus AA and AF, but got barely 2fps out of it. Having all settings on low allows between 8-15fps in outdoor environments and up to 50fps indoors. If the crashing issue can be resolved, this game should be just about playable.
I had less luck with CS:S. Initially, it kept crashing on startup with this error:
Quote:the instruction at “0x0bd93e2c” referenced memory at “0x09d6a1a0”. The memory could not be “read”.After looking up some info online, I finally got it to work by forcing DX7 mode (DX8 doesn’t work either. However, as soon as I go into a game, the framerate drops like a stone and nothing happens.
Haven’t tried TF2 yet, but I doubt it will run very well (if at all) either. According to Steam users on the forum, Source games are very twitchy on this graphics chipset. Users have come up with all sorts of workarounds involving file modification etc, but I really don’t have the heart to try them all out. If anyone is interested, take a look at this 22-page thread on the Steam forums:

Sorry that it’s not great news. 🙁

MemberOK, here’s a couple of photos to show off the NC10 under home lighting:
Front shot (I hadn’t removed the screen protector, so please ignore the glossy screen):

And the lid, which as you can see is a lot darker when not under direct light:

Member[quote1227711363=denniszen]Thanks for the photos and high-res at that. The blue one looks amazing. I’m not so fond of that particular blue (prefer dark blue), but it looks great still. If we don;t get a black one here in the States this year, I might just get the blue one.
[/quote1227711363]The colour only shows up that bright under good lighting, sitting here on my desktop it looks a very dark midnight blue. The inside, being matte, looks even darker still, I’d probably describe it as a deep slate colour.
I’ll see if I can get a good “true-colour” photo for you. 🙂

Got my NC10 from Currys too, I usually don’t touch the place as they are rippoff merchants but they seem to be the only high street shop stocking them at the moment. I got the black one.
[/quote1227681189]they tend to have stuff no one else does. one of my childhood pals works in my local one. he wasn’t in last night but next time he is i’ll be talking to him about his special “i’m pals with the staff” discount. it’s usually massive, like 40%.[/quote1227711141]
40%! I only got 10% staff discount when I worked there lol.
