MemberBut Psych, you’re OUR Mac fanboi! He seems to be cut from the cloth of….’everything that isn’t a mac sucks, yeah?’. I’m not sure its worth reading as it might just make you irritated! His claim that you can do MUCH more on an iPhone rather than a netbook is ludicrous.

MemberThis article is laughable, he’s clearly a worshipper of the Mac and doesn’t get (or is deliberately missing the point of) the netbook. If Apple don’t want a share of a market that is estimated to ship 50 million units, then more fool them.
The notion that surfing and working on an iPhone is a superior experience to that on a netbook is preposterous. I have both devices and the iPhone has a beautiful interface but is hugely compromised and often woefully slow when browsing sites. I think the article merely demonstrates the depths of his own ignorance. In the last 3 days I have constructed a database, several spreadsheets, edited photos and created graphics in Fireworks, all on my NC10 – do that on an iPhone.? Not going to happen, is it?
If netbooks were so unusable, they would not be selling in the numbers that they are. End of story.

MemberI was going to buy the eee100h before the NC10 came out – I’d much rather have the Samsung. Only joking re the impulse purchase – I could have had it at £299 but Misco couldn’t deliver for ages, so I really paid the £30 to get it now and avoid having to get it delivered. It was well worth it!

MemberI’ve never used a bluetooth mouse but haven’t had this type of problem with normal wireless optical mice. Any unresponsiveness was normally due to the type of surface I was using it on.

MemberI think netbooks are great for teenagers. I teach 13-19 year olds and we recently bought in some eee 701s at work – kids find them very useful, even running Linux they can get most tasks done that they need. There are also many free applications that he might find useful – Open Office, GIMP for graphic design and so on. I’ve run a couple of games on the NC10 and the graphics were fine but I’m no expert on that score.
I agree with the previous, external CD/DVD writers are pretty affordable for installing software and are handy to have.
Every child I speak to at school seems to have a netbook on their Christmas wish list – they are the ZX Spectrum/C-64/Amiga of the 21st century!

MemberI curse myself for my impulsiveness, which forced me to pay £329. Is the eee1000 really down to £270? That’s a pretty good deal.

MemberLovely 🙂 Its OK, I just spent about an hour taking pics of mine and uploading them to Flickr…..its perfectly normal behaviour. It looks very classy in black. I had the choice of black or white but that pearl white finsh lured me in.

MemberYes, levelrey I think it is if you use your computer a lot (which I do) and in a variety of places. I suspect the price will come down a bit over the next months (I paid £39) but for the quality I think it is money well spent. Microsoft mice are well made in my experience – my desktop at home and work both have an MS multimedia k/b and mouse, 2 years old and had a lot of use, still as good as new.
I had a kensington wireless optical mouse (which cost me about £20 a year ago) before this and they are simply not in the same league.

MemberSorry to hear its taking so long to get your NC10, levelry. We are always used to the USA getting things before us normally! FWIW, I’ve got the bluetrack mini mouse and it is a great companion for the NC10. Looks really smart too.
I impressed some of my pupils today who asked about it by demo-ing its ability to work on any surface -by rubbing it on one of their heads. Still worked.

MemberI tried to knock down the price of the Tech Air bag, on the ground that it was only £14.99 on PC World website, but the guy in Currys wanted to charge me £20.99. No deal……
Aye, I think they are pretty wise to the fact that the price has gone up to £329 everywhere.

MemberCongrats! I got mine yesterday so understand your excitement. I’m planning on knocking up a post tomorrow based on what I have found so far.
One thing I have to say is that the battery is astonishing. I took it to work fully charged, was working on it from about 9am to 4pm, drove home, put it back on about 6pm – it died about 10 mins ago. What a battery!
limesmooth
MemberI’ve had it on for an hour and a half and the battery is how 6h 20m remaining! I’ve been busily downloading Chrome, installing Office etc etc. I have to say it is even better than I thought it would be, so well put together. Full review and pictures will follow!

MemberNo, it was fully charged.
