MemberApples are nicer than oranges though 😉

MemberLooks nice that Samsung drive. Would be nice to get a confirmation on the above question ^^.
It can be got from [red=neweggdvd]newegg here[/red] if you are in the US. Doesn’t seem very available in the UK. I did see it on a 3rd party amazon seller but it was more expensive than overclockers.co.uk.

Memberlol good spot – looks like a free little game too. Just the sort of thing that will work well on the NC10

Looks like it was pretty much written by one guy – Michal Marcinkowski.
I’ll try and check this out when I have time 🙂

MemberOuch yeah if you end up paying £329 versus £280 then that’s pretty significant. Here’s hoping the £299 stands OK 🙂
jez
MemberYeah that would be nice, makes it very clear. I’ll investigate.
I added a post on it anyway.

MemberThe ultra cautious will be using wrist straps. If you are the sort of person who will get really annoyed if their chip doesn’t work then you should google up some more info on the hows and whys. Personally for a £20 chip I am happy to Earth myself on the radiator and take the risk.
And as above, handle the hatch and chip carefully. Take your time. It is a straight forward process but you don’t want to mess it up.

MemberThere is some background on the site here. I guess it is like the “free” software on the covers of magazines here in the UK. The publisher gives it away just before the release of a major new version in the hope that the increase in user base will ultimately lead to more sales. Makes sense.
By the way I’m a big truecrypt fan and had included it in a security article I was writing 🙂

MemberGeesh – netbooks are awesome. We all know that. I’ve replied here in more detail: Why netbooks rule. Dig it ;)!
jez
MemberThere is a beta preview available to certain people. Obviously everyone here who has it is part of the program. Please do not discuss dodgy sources of the software! Thanks for your understanding 🙂
Let us know when there is a public beta and we can all get testing with it 🙂

It’s rather shocking that so large a community
[/quote1228047000]I was surprised by the amount of traffic this site got so quickly too! At some point I will post up some traffic stats again but it seems to have levelled off this week being a rather steady 2000 U/Vs a day. Forum membership is growing at a steady rate.
Welcome to the site 🙂

MemberSounds good Sean. Let us know how you get on. If you want to post anything up on this site let me know 🙂 or if you are blogging it up somewhere yourself I can link off to it. Cheers.

MemberI went for corsair too. And like someone says above – I’m not sure 2gb makes a big difference (it will depend what you do) but then the 2gb chips are very reasonable (check out amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, newegg, dabs, etc) so I don’t think it is prohibitively costly either.

Richard, you’re welcome to link to software sites as long as they’re above board. 🙂
[/quote1228044766]yep please link away Rich – aslong as it is a legit download site (and http://majorgeeks.com is).

I always find myself picking my laptop up over my pc,as i’d rather be in the sitting room with my family, being semi-social :P…
[/quote1228044564]That was an unexpected bonus for me. I would go and “just do one quick thing” on the desktop and be on it for hours. At least this way with the netbook you can still be sat on the sofa.

MemberHi guys! I’m er… Jez! From London and I work for a website but do data stuff (SQL etc) so front end stuff is new to me but it is actually very useful to learn!
