Bit of a novice question I know, but what precautions shold I take when fitting RAM? Thanks 🙂

take your time and be careful opening the slot as its a little awkward in that it feels like it will snap, but as long as your gentle you should be fine., No real need for a antistatic wrist strap or anything like that

Might be an idea, when you do it, to touch something like a tap or a radiator (anything metal thats grounded) and avoid moving around on nylon carpets etc to avoid a static build up

and take you time with the black plastic flap, mine was a bugger

The ultra cautious will be using wrist straps. If you are the sort of person who will get really annoyed if their chip doesn’t work then you should google up some more info on the hows and whys. Personally for a £20 chip I am happy to Earth myself on the radiator and take the risk.

And as above, handle the hatch and chip carefully. Take your time. It is a straight forward process but you don’t want to mess it up.

Agreed, touch a radiator first to earth yourself and discharge any static that has built up.

Be sure to handle the memory around the edges (do not touch the gold pins or connectors) and make sure you align it properly.

You will need to be firm – but do not force anything.
