MemberYou could try right clicking on the program’s shortcut and select Properties.
Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and tick ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for:’ Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
Under ‘Privilege Level’ check ‘Run this program as an administrator’.
This should give you the greatest chance of running an XP program under Vista or 7.

Don’t know if you still need help, but just in case:
Follow the link which Becky gave you and scroll to the bottom of that page:

Select ‘I Accept’ and click on the ‘Download’ link on the bottom right hand side of the window. Then follow the instructions.

MemberThe Samsung Battery Manager is proprietary software designed to work with the Windows XP environment.
Samsung does not support either Vista nor Windows 7 on the NC10, so really your only choice is to try and install the XP version of the Battery Manager.
Once you have downloaded the Zip file, open the folder and select ‘Extract All’.
Right click on the ‘Setup’ and select Properties.

MemberThe latest versions of the manuals, drivers, software, and firmware can be downloaded from the SamsungPC website.
Alternatively, I use DriverMax to keep the drivers on my Sammy up to date.

MemberMy understanding is that you do not have to stop nor remove McAfee from your computer before using MCPR. You may find these instructions useful. To quote:
“Using McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool
-
Double click the MCPR.exe
-
A Command Line window will be displayed, and then close automatically
-
Wait for a second Command Line window to be displayed. Note: Do not double-click MCPR.exe again, you may have to wait up to 1 minute for the next window to appear.
-
After the second window appears, the program will begin the cleanup
-
Observe the installation, which could take several minutes
-
The following message will be displayed in the Command Line window:
-
The machine must reboot to complete the un-installation. Reboot now? [y.n]
-
Press Y on the keyboard
-
Wait for the computer to restart
-
All McAfee products are now removed from your computer”

Unless….the bios is set to record the purchase month as the date when the laptop is first turned on and booted up (I noticed the time was on my NC10 when i booted it up)? That would make sense.

That would make much more sense.TCMuffin

I’ve never liked using the track pad, but I’m doing pretty well with this one. I do intend to get a travel size mouse.

MemberIncreasing the RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB is unlikely to make much difference to boot times.
Extra RAM helps you run more programs/windows at the same time. So, when you have several Firefox tabs open at the same time and Thunderbird and the Gimp and OpenOffice….that’s when the extra memory will come into its own 🙂
And of course, if you want to run memory intensive programs, such as image editing on large files and games.

Ditto, but my toolbox also has a golf club “driver” so I can “install” it on their Vista computer, along with a hammer and vaccum so I can “defragment” someone’s “fragmented” HDD. 😉 XD

Oh and don’t forget to wriggle about a bit on a modern, preferably plastic chair.

MemberI have experience of the Gimp and Picasa and they’re both good bits of software in different ways.
As with most stuff to do with computers, it’s horses for courses. With free software you’ve nothing to lose by trying things out to see which suits you best.
