MemberMan, the (US) Computer Shopper. I remember when it was ~800 pages of ads: a gigantic toy catalog for computer geeks. And they still charged you $5 for it.
::sigh:: What were we talking about again? Oh, yeah, reviews. You can probably actually find the articles in today’s Shopper.
Anyway, the US Computer Shopper’s reviews weren’t all done recently even if they put up an aggregate article. For example, the NC10’s review is from November. Even if the same person reviewed the NC10 and some of the other netbooks they might have changed their mind about what’s important or not over time.

Member[quote1235402331=kelly500]wot do u mean super is available on the internet i dont understand and how it is super by the way so u saying my processor wont be able to cope with video conversion as its for my ds so i can watch dpg movies[/quote1235402331]
eRightSoft’s SUPER is a freeware video conversion program. It could use a UI overhaul, and not just because it’s much taller than the NC10 screen. (691-pixel tall screenshot)February 22, 2009 at 6:01 am in reply to: nc10 has problems displaying some full pages help me #184474Parody
MemberYeah, SUPER’s annoyingly tall for the NC10’s screen. (Also slightly too wide for a rotated NC10 screen, but it would be usable.)

MemberMostly it shows that there isn’t a whole lot you can do with Intel integrated graphics: they are what they are.
I don’t doubt that setting it back to its standard clock speed can help on occasion, but who knows how common those situations are with the other limitations of the chipset and the rest of the hardware?

MemberI gave up on all of the various scrolling options on the trackpad; I couldn’t find a set of settings that were responsive and didn’t interfere with normal mouse movements. It’s unfortunate because I used the vertical-scroll-on-right all the time on my big laptop, but that’s how it goes.
Others have had more success than I have. If you poke around the forums you can find other threads on the subject.

Member[quote1235158878=Happyning]What’s your experience using the NC10 in everyday work in regards to display size and resolution? Any ideas and comments wold be really appreciated.[/quote1235158878]
This depends on what you mean by everyday work. I, for example, mostly use it to surf the Internet, read email, look things up in PDFs, and play old video games. It works fine for all of that. I wouldn’t want to do hours upon hours of graphic editing or desktop publishing work on it, though I have done both of those things in small amounts with no problems. The size doesn’t bother me at all; it’s very easy to see things on the screen. The low resolution has been an issue for some (large dialog boxes, for example), but I haven’t run into any real problems yet.
Hope this helps.

MemberYes, they should both run fine. (I’ve been playing Starcraft, but people have posted that both run well.)

MemberSomeday, maybe, we’ll have decent pay-as-you-go cell internet access here in the US. It’d be nice to be able to pop on the Internet and grab something quick regardless of whether or not I’m near free WiFi. ::sigh::

Member[quote1235157166=OUTATIME]Any idea how much HDD [PSP 8] takes? Does it run okay?[/quote1235157166]
It takes about 300 MB. It runs fine, though you’ll probably want to play with the palettes and toolbars to get more screen space. I don’t plan on doing anything complex with it, but it’s nice to have available.Parody
MemberI have a laptop cleaning kit I use on it. The kit comes with a very soft brush, a cleaning cloth, and a bottle of “cleaning solution” aka isopropyl alcohol.
Isopropyl Alcohol – the universal electronic cleaner! Except for stuff it trashes. Don’t use it on that. :)

MemberThe Ur-Quan Masters, a port of Star Control II to modern systems, runs perfectly. Play one of the greatest games of all time on your favorite portable computer!
I recommend picking up a map pic or PDF and reading the FAQ for a couple in-game hints that were dropped from the version they started from.

MemberI still use PSP 8 for most things.

MemberI think most of the people who frequent this site removed it well before the trial expired.

MemberWhatever by 768, more processor, more RAM, and actual video are all the kinds of things I’d like to see.
