A week doesn’t seem to go by without another netbook release.
This got me thinking, what would the next gen NC10 have to have for you to consider buying it and upgrading?
Someone really likes Pico Projectors hey?
😛
Hmm well I have no need for a projector or built in 3G/HSDPA, and I can fit an SSD to my current NC10 if I felt like it. A higher resolution screen would be nice though.
I think what would really make me consider upgrading would be 64-bit support, a much faster processor (preferably dual core) and increased RAM support preferably with two slots. A better graphics card for GPGPU work would be a bonus. Whilst retaining the same size, weight and battery life.
Yeah it’s going to be a while…
unless someone pays me 80~85% of what I paid for it, i am considering keeping the thing for at least 2 years. Of course, if something irresistible comes out, it won’t last that long.
I would want to get rid of the Widescreen, make it at least a res of 800×600, as I hate widescreen stuff. Also, a SSD would be nice, at least 32GB.
Whatever by 768, more processor, more RAM, and actual video are all the kinds of things I’d like to see.
GPU Video rendering.
I agree with the above poster. GPU video rendering should also increase battery life; depending on the CPU vs. GPU power usage.
I selected “Higher Res Screen†and “Built in Pico Projectorâ€. Selecting “Higher Res Screen†is obvious, but I chose “Built in Pico Projector†as it could have multiple applications e.g. watching a movie, showing friends/family pictures, bigger screen if needed.
