MemberA lot of forums have a trade area where people can offer stuff for sale or swap things etc. I think that can be a nice idea, but you do have to watch out for anything dodgy or overly promotional going on.
Also, personally I’d prefer members who want to sell something to be active here first and foremost. I wouldn’t want people registering with the sole intent of flogging their kit, this is not a free targeted ads service.
One thing I will say is that if you’re going to allow one sale through, it might not be wise to block others else it could look like you’re allowing things for some members and not others.

Member[quote1228149405=hef]this looks to be a winner for my ideal mobile mouse…
how much did it skin you and where did you buy from?
[/quote1228149405]hef, I don’t want to put you off as this is a lovely mouse and it may just be my bad luck, but I returned mine today as I was having issues with the sensitivity and response.
I got mine from PC World for £39.99 on Friday and it was on-shelf at the same price today. 🙂
Becky
MemberWell, I took the mouse back to PC World today, but decided not to swap it for another of the same. I didn’t want to have to go all the way back again if it still acted up, so I opted for the VX Revolution instead. It’s sold in-store for fifty quid, but they honoured the web-only price of £29.35 so I actually ended up getting a tenner back from my initial purchase.
I’m very happy I made the switch, this one is very smooth with no sticking or lag problems. Looks like the MS mouse was either faulty or just not very good.

MemberHow about something like this?
It’s considerably cheaper and also powers USB devices.

MemberI don’t have any software suggestions for you, but if you just want to get rid of that second boot option, you can adjust settings by doing the following:
Click Start –> Run. Type msconfig and hit OK.
Go to the Boot tab. Your multiple OSs should be listed along with the option to delete unnecessary ones.Apologies if this is basic stuff you’re already aware of. 🙂
Becky
MemberOooh, this is very strange. I’m pretty sure I just used Add/Remove Programs and it was completely gone. Perhaps you have to uninstall the three options in a specific order? If so, then I must have just got lucky.
It’s possible I also used msconfig and removed any references to it from startup before uninstalling, but I don’t remember off the top of my head.
I certainly didn’t have to do any registry tweaks and there doesn’t appear to be any remnants of the software floating around the system that I can actively see.
I would definitely remove any entries from startup (if you haven’t already) and then try uninstalling again. Failing that, I’m afraid I’m at a loss for ideas.

MemberWelcome to the site Steven, there’s tonnes of info and discussion about the NC10 here and I’m sure you’ll have fun looking around. 🙂
Becky
MemberSorry to hear that Kevin, do let us know if the fix tech support gave you works.
Where did you buy your NC10 from BTW? If it’s a local store, you can take it back, but if it’s online it might be worth asking if they’ll swap the battery without having to send the whole unit back. You’ll still be able to use it on mains power in the meantime.
Becky
MemberCheers for that lozza69er, I think I’ll reinstall it if it seems to be functioning at last.
Becky
MemberWigs? I can’t even see how that subject matter might be even vaguely related to this site! 😀

MemberI’ve noticed hef being a bit snarky sometimes but wasn’t sure whether to approach him about it. Looks like it shouldn’t be a problem now though.
I also closed the duplicate bios update thread last night.
Becky
MemberI will sometimes do a fresh install if a pre-built system is full of bloatware, but the NC10 only had McAfee which was easy to remove. Most of the Samsung utilities are extremely useful and can be quickly uninstalled if not needed.

If you only bought it from Curry’s today… why do you not return it to them for a full refund?
[/quote1228092688]I don’t think they’ll take it back if it’s been opened – they would have to sell it at a reduced price even though it’s still effectively brand new.
I’d certainly ask though, can’t hurt to try. 😀
Becky
MemberSorry to hear you’re selling up, but perfectly understandable if it doesn’t meet your needs. I hope you get a good price for it. 🙂
Becky
MemberAbsolutely! If you’ve handed over your cash so to speak and they accepted it, then the deal is done. They can’t refuse to send you the goods because the price has gone up since you paid for it any more than a retail store can phone you after you purchased in-store and demand you pay the new price.
If they do try to pull a fast one on you, you’ll easily have them over a legal barrel. The goods are yours.
