I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my NC10.
In the past I have had numerous problems with McAfee and have always uninstalled it, with extreme difficulty! Has anyone uninstalled it from an NC10 and if so how difficult was it?Fred
November 29, 2008 at 3:16 pm #172171BeckyMemberIt was the first thing I removed lol, and it was no problem at all via Add/Remove Programs. 🙂
November 29, 2008 at 3:18 pm #172182g6zruMemberThanks for that, I’ll follow your example.

November 29, 2008 at 6:24 pm #172177BritmanMemberYeah, it was the first thing I removed. Mind you should still have one, check the application forum.
November 29, 2008 at 9:56 pm #172168GalegoMemberIt was gone after the first 5 minutes of life in my NC10.

December 1, 2008 at 3:15 am #172181PsychNC10MemberWell for one, free programs are cheaper and better.
December 1, 2008 at 3:25 am #172174hefMemberim surprised how many people seem to ave stuck with the default windows install on these.
it’s not even a valid question to me whether to clean format a new machine and start without ANY manufacturer issued software.December 1, 2008 at 3:35 am #172172BeckyMemberI will sometimes do a fresh install if a pre-built system is full of bloatware, but the NC10 only had McAfee which was easy to remove. Most of the Samsung utilities are extremely useful and can be quickly uninstalled if not needed.

I was until I retired an IT tech in a school supporting a network with 780 users. During that time whenever I came across MacAfee it was causing problems. It also seemed to want to totally take over the computer.
It was not easy to remove, it seemed to cling on very tenaciously, but the effort was worthwhile.
I also agree with the poster who said that there are free programs that do at least as well and often better than MacAfee.Fred
PS it’s still not arrived and the postman is very nervous when he approaches our address!December 1, 2008 at 10:42 am #172175hefMember[quote1228128117=g6zru]

[/quote1228128117]i can agree with this. in my experience mcafee is known to totally cripple systems after a while.

[/quote1228128688]I think the best thing to do would be to check out some professional reviews, I always look to PC Pro for software round ups. They do detailed lab tests and can objectively rate AV software on this basis.
Each package has pros and cons. And people will chose the software they prefer. I will probably not continue my McAfee license on the basis of cost.
December 2, 2008 at 12:01 am #172170Sandy_UKMemberSo Jez you’re still using the bundled McAfee AV are you?
