MemberWelcome hooked, a very apt name indeed. 😀

MemberWelcome Corty! 🙂
Have to say, I personally think the blue would have looked a bit tacky with a matching keyboard. Glad you’re happy with the black though.
Becky
MemberMine does that too, but only slightly. I think it’s normal as it’s on a central rocker.
Richard – it was probably a bit stiff when you first got it and has now loosened up.

I bought a blue from Currys which had the blotches and took it back. I tried another blue and it was the same. The staff opened the other 2 in stock and all had exactly the same features. Hence I opted for the black
[/quote1229110843]My blue came from Currys and is absolutely fine. I wonder if yours got a bad batch in. It’s rather worrying for several of them to turn out like that all together otherwise.
The 3rd-party panels that have plagued monitors usually suffer from calibration issues and highly noticeable light bleed, but I haven’t come across any mention of blotches before.

MemberYes, the lighting really does make a huge difference. All my other pics were taken indoors, the brightest ones being directly under a light source, the others (such as on my desk) were more “everyday” conditions.
I actually like how variable the colour is, makes it more interesting. Sometimes I look at it and think “wow, that really is vibrant” and other times it’s such a dark slate you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s merely a blue tint.

MemberI’m going to close this thread as we already have a very active one for discussion of cases in the Accessories area, but please feel free to re-add any photos from here into the existing thread:

MemberI’ve posted quite a few pics of the blue and submitted them to the sammynetbook gallery (though some of them don’t seem to be showing up), all but three of them are mine. You can see the entire set here:

I wouldn’t say the blue is at all purplish in real life. It looks that way in one of the photos, but that’s down to indoor lighting. The true colour is actually a very rich blue when seen under good lighting, as seen here:
That’s the best pic I’ve taken in terms of accurately capturing the colour. Under duller lighting, it’s a deep midnight blue.
If I have time tomorrow, I’ll try to take pics next to some reference items for you. 🙂

MemberI was going to post the link to the video review direct on QVCs site, but they removed it. Thanks for finding a more permanent copy. 🙂

MemberI’ve had Direct3D errors pop up on a couple of games, I’ve found this to be a resolution issue and the game will often work if you either increase the res on the NC10 (thus enabling a virtual, scrollable display) or output to an external display capable of a higher res.
Also bear in mind that the Intel graphics card in the NC10 doesn’t support hardware transform and lighting and this is a requirement in many modern games. In this case, you may be able to force the game to run with certain parameters (such as an older version of DirectX) but I don’t know how to do that with Tomb Raider Underground specifically.

MemberI’ll give it till 1am (GMT). Do I get a prize if I guess correctly? 😀
Becky
MemberIt’s the “bland design” comment that gets me – how can anyone describe the NC10 as bland? Do they want swirly floral patterns on it or something?
Becky
MemberHi there techno12 and welcome to the site. 🙂
I’ve been following the thread on Overclockers and saw the posts about the blotchy screen. I’m very fussy over the quality of displays and it was one of the first things I checked for (luckily I don’t seem to have a bad one).
I’m hoping there isn’t some kind of “panel lottery” going on, which is something I’ve had to deal with when buying TFT monitors in the past. Unfortunately, a few Samsung monitor models have been affected by this and shipped out panels from different production facilities with highly variable results. In fact, the monitor I bought for my hubby (and then myself) for Christmas last year was not the one I originally wanted because I wasn’t willing to risk getting one of those lower quality panels.
In the case of the NC10 though, it’s hopefully just a production fault – if it had been a 3rd-party panel they wouldn’t have offered a repair/exchange.
