MemberI’ve got the toshiba drive. Pretty crappy deal if it’s the slower of the drives or there’s no solution to it.
I get random IO sometimes in 7 and I can’t trace the source. It’s almost like it’s defragging or something for no reason.

MemberMy Experience score falls shortest on HDD. It only gets a 2.0

MemberI use the Xbox 360 for all viewings on TV. It won’t play MKV formats though. DiviX yes though.

MemberIf I were flying to Asia or Europe I would consider one. And if I were on Virgin Airlines with their WiFi availability etc.

MemberI like the WII mote idea but I haven’t done it yet. Simple bluetooth hack to get it rolling. I like it because White on White. 🙂 360 Controller is bulky though. I love to use it with the console though.

MemberProblem is the nature of using the Sammy. Unless you drain it ALL THE WAY, you’ll gradually destory your battery. I would think the Battery Discharge thing in the Bios might be healthy, but why kick your battery in the nuts?
Just organically drain it all the way with normal use a few times and charge it all the way up. What hurts it most is using it til battery’s down to 80% then charging and repeating. But that’s normal use for most people.

MemberWould only show about 3.5GB or less RAM. You could enable PAE and make it more valuable.
Next question, Can Sammy run x64 OS? 🙂
If so, then we could use it all. It’s all about the CPU though. Core 2 Duo’s can run 64Bit OS/

MemberWorked Great! It’s nice to have clean install with recovery partition reclaimed as well. I’ll keep that Thumb drive around for that. Maybe I’ll nlite a SP3-infused ISO and bake in MS Office 2007 if possible. Thanks alot Jayne

MemberThanks for the TIP
I’m using it now, it’s installing very quickly, and I am thinking it will work. I’ll update as soon as I know. So awesome. Maybe I should sell my unopened Sammy DVDRW drive now.. 🙂

MemberI got from MWave too. I should have done Buy.com though as I paid $70. Mine should arrive soon. I like keeping brands the same!

MemberPartition 1 is the recovery partition
partition 2 is C
Partition 3 is DInteresting, disk/partitioning numbering is wacky in windows/bootloader
1st System Disk is always 0 but 1st Partition is always 1
I’m in the process of trying to upgrade to Pro as well. I tried to do it all with USB Thumb Drive, but no avail. I finally broke down and bought the $70 Sammy DVD burner USB, external, etc. I figure I should backup Docs/Pics to some DVD’s while I’m at it as well.
IMPORTANT: If you are installing windows again from a disc, BE SURE TO DELETE ALL PARTITIONS. Samsung screws with the Partition tables with the OEM garbage so you need to delete all partitions before re-installing. I even recommend deleting partitions, then restarting setup and continuing like normal.
