MemberWow – that is a great price. Before the pound crashed against the dollar that would have been £100 cheaper than retail here in the UK. But now it is only about £30 cheaper. What a difference an exchange rate can make!

MemberYes it does have such a button. Fn + F8 cycles through the different modes. I havent really needed to use it though – the battery generally seems to last for ever already so on a day to day basis you don’t need to watch what you are doing which is really nice.
I imagine it will come in much more handy if you travelling and away from power for longer periods!

In saying that though, come January, I won’t be impressed if they release a version with Vista and internal 3G for the same, or slightly higher, price; that is, if the NC10 isn’t crippled and the 3G internal modem can be added at a later date.
[/quote1227183557]You and me both. But I guess that’s the price of being an early adopted, but still those moves by manufacturers can leave a bad taste. Reminds me of the iPhone where some of my friends are locked into expense longterm deal with the early models and much better ones game along very very quickly!
In the short term I am happy that the NC10 does evrything I wanted but the one wishlist item is 3G. I suppose one advantage of the dongle is that when my home broadband connection goes down I guess the dongle can be slipped into my desktop machine?

MemberI think there is definitely an expectation of follow up 3G and Vista versions in the pipeline. I would imagine they well push out all these first ones for Christmas and then capitalise on their success by keeping momentum with further releases.
With respect to the manual, I guessed those printed ones were actuallty generic laptop ones?

MemberI do think it is a bit strange that they didnt do a black one in the US. I was scratching my head over an explanation but couldn’t think of any logical reason. Perhaps the above suggestion is close to the mark? Who knows!
I’ll be updating the where to buy an NC10 page as I hear any more info.
jez
Memberhehe!
I was going to say that I haven’t actually bought anything Samsung before but just looking around our living room CRT is made by them and actually now I think about it my old CRT monitor was too!

While i agree somewhat, in theroy i think it should be how well an application runs. Indeed any application will install but wether it runs sufficiently to be of any use is a different matter IMHO
[/quote1227180533]Further to that, there is also the practicle point of view. For example visual studio may run OK but how is it for actually doing development work? Is it too frustrating to use on a small screen with trackpad?
I now have 3 monitors at work, including a large wide screen in the middle. Dropping back down to the NC10 is actually fine for most every day activities but some stuff is hard to work on when you are used to more lol!

Hopefully this will become as useful a resource as the excellent eeeuser.com.
[/quote1227177153]I hope so too, rest assured I will be working hard behind the scenes to do the NC10 justice :).
Thanks for your support!

MemberOh yeah, blimey as I live and breath so they are blue! I totally didn’t notice and I went to look at them specifically.
jez
Memberlol yeah Im old enough too – but what about when PCs stuggled to encode or play MP3s?! Those were the days!
That is excellent findings! Like ive posted before I easily hooked mine up to my newer flat screen TV. If they come with a VGA port then it is really easy to do (note to others – older TVs are a different story!).
Good stuff!
jez
Memberlol it is sad! But you have to tell us your thoughts on it anyway ;)!
I think case modification is well outside my capability but its cool to see some of the awesome things other people do with their machines!
jez
Memberhehe well I have it working although it doesnt pick up MY flickr pics but it doees the ones others have added to the group – Ive asked flickr support and someone said it was because my account was too new and untrusted.
The pages will be up soon anyway – with or without my photos!

MemberThat would be great, what I might do is open up the news posting here. I think the admin still as to approve a post but otherwise it goes straight onto the site.
If anyone wants to write an article I suggest letting peeps know here and then we won’t overlap. Im knocking out a couple on security, and wifi use out and about – taking my NC10 down the pub later for a pint and free wifi lol!
Cheers.
