[/quote1264333501]
Sorry jeepers01, but this no longer works. So, with thanks to dosibox, ‘ll copy the translation here:Quote:_Your Recovery hidden partition on your Samsung NC10 netbook has been deleted, deleted?
_ The [F4] key is inactive when you start your NC10 but you still have the hidden Recovery partition on the hard drive NC10?
_ You have installed another operating system on your NC10 and now you want to submit the NC10 in the state as left the factory with Windows XP and Recovery hidden partition?
_ You want to install Windows 7 (or Windows XP) on your NC10 and have a complete backup of the system operating in the hidden Recovery partition to reinstall later, the NC10 in 20min. through the [F4] key? This tutorial is for you.
I thank the member suz Blogeee forum where his support work for the construction of this tutorial is remarkable. This tutorial applies to all laptops that have the brand Samsung Recovery Solution Program (Samsung Recovery Solution) version 3.0.0.6 or higher.
To know: http://www.samsung.com/fr/support/download/supportDownMain.do / “Option 2.” “Data” / “Laptops” / choose your model in the drop-down lists / then click on “OK” / in the new page, click on the “software” / Finally, see if the program “Recovery Solution” is proposed (/ ” version of the Samsung Recovery Solution depending on your operating system while well).
If yes, you can use in adapting to your situation and Samsung laptop, this tutorial.Good to know about the tutorial:
For now, the tutorial only supports Windows XP 32-bit and 7 as simply tools AdminTool USB Windows XP and 7 are 32-bit. I am trying to see if there are ways to install Windows XP and 7 64-bit in the hidden partition Recovery.
To minimize errors CRC etc …, files tools AdminTool: Extension. Iso must be decompressed with WinRAR latest version.
Samsung Recovery Solution III = WinClon 4.0 (publisher: Clonix).
[F4] = key [F4] key of NC10.
Hidden Partition Recovery = Recovery Area = area of recovery. It’s the same thing under different names. For the tutorial, I will use: “Hidden Recovery Partition”.
Full backup = It is composed of image files with the extension *. wcl (several GB) and *. woo (few bytes). They must be in the same file to function and carry the same file name. example: init.wcl and init.woo or user1.wcl and user.woo, etc. …
Complete restoration: it replaces the entire C: drive with a backup image to restore the computer entirely.MSRP …:
If you use Samsung France to rebuild your Recovery hidden partition on the Samsung NC10 netbook, they refer you to their subcontracting company CEAT.

1 Samsung NC10 netbook.
+ See specifications at the beginning of each game.Part 2: “What is the point of having a hidden partition on the NC10 Recovery?”
Advantage
Complete restoration of the computer in 20 minutes.
Disadvantage:
The hidden partition Recovery consumes space on the hard disk.
For an installation with:
Windows XP, it takes 10Go/160Go
Windows 7 – 32 bits, it takes 15Go/160Go
for the hidden partition Recovery.Part 3: “How to export the image of the initial full backup content in the hidden partition Recovery?”
Image of the initial full backup content in the hidden partition Recovery = 2 files: init.woo + init.wcl
1) Start the NC10.
2) Press the [F4] at the onset of the logo “Samsung” (or even just before the logo appears).
3) Press the [Enter] when the black window title in the header: “Windows Boot Manager” appears.
4) Wait that burden here.
5) When the window “Samsung Recovery Solution III” is present, simultaneously press the keys [CTRL] + [ALT] + [F10]. Password: secos
I said the window and not the full blue screen. If you are still in full blue screen where it is marked: “Samsung Recovery Solution III,” we must still wait until the window appears before you press the key combination.
You are in the window “management” to “Samsung Recovery Solution III.
6) Meeting place in the “image”.
7) The storage unit of the image of the initial full backup content in the hidden partition Recovery will be:
Internal hard disk of NC10
or
external hard drive (in this case, connect it to a USB port NC10)
or
USB key (in this case, plug it into a USB port of NC10).
But in any case, note that available capacity of 2GB (Windows XP) or 4GB (Windows 7) on the destination drive will be required to start exporting.
8) Select “Export” if not already then click on “select a location” = your destination drive.
9) Confirm by “OK” in the new window. Exporting the image of the initial full backup content in the hidden partition Recovery begins.
10) When exporting the image is complete, click “Ok”.
11) Close the windows and then successively Choose either stop or restart the system (= the NC10).
12) I strongly advise you to restart Windows normally once the export is complete and burn a DVD that you carefully keep the 2 files: init.woo + init.wcl.Part 4: “I still have my Recovery hidden partition on the hard drive of the NC10 but when I press [F4] to start, nothing happens, Windows starts normally .
1) Download the tool SRSIII_AdminTool.iso (94.8 MB) here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y30H2DZE /! SRSIII_AdminTool The tool can be run only under Windows when it is started. It is impossible to “boot” on this tool.
2) On Windows XP and your NC10, unzip the file with WinRAR SRSIII_AdminTool.iso latest version.
3) Run the file AdminTool.exe located in the WINCLON.
4)
Click on the Execute STEP2: Finalize Recovery Settings as above.
The [F4] is now activated at the start of NC10.
5) Restart your NC10 to test by pressing the [F4] when the Samsung logo appears (even a little before).
6) While pressing the [F4] is not always taken into account when starting the NC10 must also repair the MBR.
Perform steps 4) to 11) of the “Party 5_d: Windows XP” in the window, not just click on “Fix MBR” STEP 2, and in any case the “EXECUTE” of the window.
7)
8) When the screen is completely black NC10, remove the USB 2 port USB NC10 so that it does not restart again on the USB 2 but the program Samsung Recovery Solution III contained in the hidden partition Recovery.
9)
Make a test: restart NC10 / Press [F4] when the Samsung logo appears (even a little before).
10)
Press [Enter] when the window whose heading is: “Windows Boot Manager” appears.Part 5_a: Windows XP “How can I check if I still have my Recovery hidden partition on the hard drive of the NC10?”
The information gives the presence of the hidden partition Recovery.
For users who still press [F4] function:
Start the NC10 / Press [F4] when the Samsung logo appears (even a little before): Press [Enter] when the window whose heading is: “Windows Boot Manager” appears: If you arrive at a window “Samsung Recovery Solution III”, you have the hidden partition Recovery on NC10 (but perhaps more complete backup inside …).For users not having the [F4] not working:
In Windows XP:
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / left column: Computer Management / Disk Management / You should see a volume with the name: RECOVERY and status as: (EISA Configuration). So you have the hidden partition Recovery on NC10 (but perhaps more complete backup inside …).
Since the [F4] is no longer functional, I advise you to proceed with the operations of “Part 2” just above, for your key [F4] function.Part 5_b: Windows XP Even better: “How to verify a full backup is present in the hidden partition Recovery of NC10 to restore it?”
/ ” Hidden Recovery Partition has interest only if a full backup is inside.
Indeed, to make a full recovery of NC10 from the hidden partition Recovery, it is necessary that the latter has a full backup that normally was done in 1 boot NC10 by you, the end customer. Having a hidden partition Recovery empty is useless if no full backup is in it because you can not make a full recovery of NC10.In Windows XP and your NC10 / Start / All Programs / Samsung / Samsung Recovery Solution / Samsung Solution.exe Recovery / Restoration / Restoration complete.
In the table, you should see at least one full backup with the backup date + description etc … like the picture above. In this case, you have a full backup in this hidden partition Recovery.
Part 5_c: Windows XP “I still have my hidden partition Recovery with a full backup inside ‘
No problem to reinstall and output of the plant NC10. (Reminder: To check if your partition is still hidden: “Part 5_a”).
In Windows XP and your NC10 / Start / All Programs / Samsung / Samsung Recovery Solution / Samsung Solution.exe Recovery / Restoration / Restoration Complete: You select your backup / You click Next: In the new window: OK / The NC10 restarts the program Samsung Recovery Solution III contained in the hidden partition Recovery / At the window “Run restoration:”Yes.”Part 5_d: Windows XP “I do not have my hidden partition Recovery”
We must therefore proceed with the steps below to submit your NC10 in the output state factory.
/ ” Do not confuse: AdminTool USB drive for XP and AdminTool USB drive 7. They are different.
Note: The operation was performed on the original hard disk of NC10 (160GB).
to take precautions before sending the Samsung NC10 in SAV for repair:
These 2 steps: A) and B) is optional but recommended.
A) (before step 1), this step will help save the date of installation program Samsung Recovery Solution III + full backup, content in the hidden Recovery partition on the same date as the “Purchase Date” indicated in the bios. Technically, it works even if they are different. But if you ever need to refer you to the SAV Samsung NC10 and they are different, they will ask questions.
B) (after step 34): This step will help erase the history of transactions with the hidden partition Recovery. Thus, the VAS Samsung has no idea what you’ve made your NC10, including the operations of reconstructions of the hidden partition Recovery etc. … since all history is completely erased.Requirement:

it’s probably the best guide I have seen so far.
[/quote1264331878]
No problem – it’s the guide I used to remove the back cover of my NC10.Thinking about it – I started removing my cover from the area near the hinges, using a credit card to prise apart the two halves of the chassis.
Hope that helps and good luck π

No problem. Actually you didn’t – we still don’t know if the N210 has a nanoparticle keyboard πAnd I was just trying to reassure you that even if it did have a nanoparticle keyboard, there is no known risk to health and wellbeing π

Mostly I’m concerned if the machine gets stolen that no one can access my private data.
[/quote1264249000]
Me too πI admit that I may be a touch more paranoid than the average NC10 user, but to protect my private data, I have done the following:[list=number]
*I set the Supervisor (i.e. BIOS) password.*I set the User password.
*I set the HDD password (so my HDD is protected even if it’s in another PC or external enclosure).
*I set the ‘Fixed disk boot sector’ to ‘Write Protect’ in my Samsung’s BIOS.
*I encrypted the whole HDD as described in TrueCrypt’s FAQ on System Encryption.[/list]
I have disabled my Windows password – Start > Run > control userpasswords2 > Select the username you want to automatically log into > Untick the little white box next to ‘Users must enter a username and password to use this computer. If the computer is starting from a cold boot I have to enter the TrueCrypt password, the User password, and then the HDD password. From a warm boot, I have only to enter the TrueCrypt password and the HDD password.
