MemberIf you don’t want to turn off all of the event sounds, the specific entry that you want to change is the Start Navigation sound under Windows Explorer in the list of Program events in Sounds tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel.
(I still use my own custom sound scheme, which does not include a navigation sound. :)

MemberFWIW, I use this Case Logic sleeve. My NC10 fits snugly inside and the front zipper pocket is big enough for a mouse and the charger.

MemberYour best option is probably Samsung Tech Support. If nothing else, I’m sure you could send it to them to have it fixed (wiped or replaced) for a fee. You could also replace the drive yourself; it might even be cheaper. ::shrug::

MemberI’m pretty much with Alfihar: fine for viewing (but small), OK to not-so-great for editing.
The N120 should be fine for what you’re planning to do. If you were going to do more extensive work, I’d recommend something with more power and a larger screen.

MemberI also disable the auto subscribe/follow/track/etc. feature on forums that have them. The last thing I want is a bunch of spam telling me there’s new posts on a forum I visit every day. (Well, there would be spam if I didn’t also disable most of the features that cause the forum to email me. :)

Unfortunately, I don’t think Microsoft gives them that option.Parody
MemberMAME is a great way to reexperience classic arcade games. However, the required ROMs are still under copyright and not licensed for MAME play (in most cases) and thus grabbing a bunch of game ROMs is just as much an act of software piracy as grabbing a copy of a game that just came out.
This is the major issue with all game system and old computer emulators. It doesn’t seem to stop anyone, but it does limit what you can talk about on various forums. :)

Member[quote1250607613=mcarp555]I used a small phillips to remove the memory cover, and to switch out the keyboard, with no problems. I think the whole ‘pozidriv’ thing is a severe overreaction.[/quote1250607613]
Ditto; I used the same small Phillips screwdriver I use for all sorts of other small screws and it worked just fine.Parody
MemberI also uninstalled it months ago; it’s not a very good app.
I believe people have posted here that restarting bits of it like you’re describing does work for a while, but you have to do it at least every time you reboot (and possibly more often).
I could be misremembering, though.

MemberThe NC10 still feels small to me, especially when compared to my 17″ work laptop. It’s a usable small, though.

MemberYour computer’s second monitor doesn’t have to match the internal one in resolution or aspect ratio; buy whatever monitor you want and set it up without mirroring. (If you’re going to have an external monitor, you might as well use all of those extra pixels. :)

MemberI’m with tonytb. Over here I’ve had (pre-Cingular) AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile phones and have only called either Customer Service once, when I switched and wanted to keep my old phone number.
Maybe it helps that I stick to low-feature phones? :)
I am glad that you didn’t have any trouble, phabreel.

MemberYou should have no trouble with any of the Infinity Engine games. (BG, PS:T, etc.) I have them all installed on my NC10, a couple with a widescreen mod.

MemberYeah, it’s pretty bad. It’s the second thing I uninstalled. (The first was McAfee, of course. :)
