MemberTiagofrancisco, welcome to the forum.
Have a read of http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/14626-Microsoft-Windows-7-Anytime-Upgrade-from-Windows-7-Starter and the included links. (You may need to click ‘feature comparison’ on the MS site sub-menu links)
Hope it helps, but If you need any specifics, post back.
or see http://windows.microsoft.com/pt-PT/windows7/products/compare and click ‘Comparação de funcionalidades’ (he says hopefully 🙂 )

MemberWell, if Ive read this chart for low end CPUs correctly, it appears that the Atom N4xx is above the PiV and Athlon XP mentioned above. But I think the GPU will be the main problem for that game.
Also, sadly it may be that whilst the game will run on a suitable PC with W7, maybe the demo (for some reason) will not and may only work on XP etc.
PCs don’t you just love ’em 😉

Membersterushton,
I haven’t tried them, but this list reports that Quake, Quake2 and Quake3 Arena run on an NC10 and an N110, so (best guessing) I think the H/W should be OK, but as you say the OS may not be. There is always good old Compatibility mode !?!
Also for older games like quake and doom, if they wont run natively, DOSBOX may get them going. Long time since I played either, but were they DOS games?
Microsoft claim that Doom3 is compatible with W7 32bit and 64bit.
MS also claim Quake4 can run on W7 32bit as well, but no info re quake or quake2/3However, I think the netbooks GPU will limit what Doom3 and Quake4 can do, if they run at all. Are the demos of these games still available to try before purchasing?

another similar spec’d netbook (if thats the one). Model NP-N250-JP01UK.

Memberstefanjan,
This has the basic details http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/compare
but a search on the forum will show a few posts where this has been discussed before.A lot of the extras can be added FOC by things like Oceanis, GOM/VLC, Truecrypt etc. Depends on what you want to do.
hope it helps a bit
Fred232
MemberI think there was a similar discussion to this once before for the N450 Atoms.
The NF310 has a N550 (I beleive) if so, the Intel spec sheet says ‘max memory size = 2G’ or words to that effect – http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=50154
But then the question is asked, why have an apparently 64bit capable CPU limited to 2G of memory?
December 29, 2010 at 8:22 pm in reply to: Recorded TV no picture when playing in Windows 7 Media Player #217825Fred232
Memberstefanjan,
Something odd here. I went to my desktop W7 PC and copied off the example wtv file – win7_scenic-demoshort_raw.wtv (Its the only one I have, not used it before).
I created a ‘recorded TV’ folder on my netbook and put the file into that.
I included that folder into my recorded TV library.
And double clicked the file.It played OK in MP12 – video and sound???
I’m not aware Ive ever loaded any specific individual codec packs, but in the past when I was trying to get AVCHD video files to play (They would not in MP12), I downloaded VLC and GOM and Media Player Classic. I’m not sure if any of these bring codecs with them that MP12 can use.
Anyway, VLC wont play the wtv file.GOM plays the files video and says I need to install a codec for audio, and takes me to a place to install it from (I didn’t), and MPC wont play them.
However, I also have windows live movie maker loaded which plays the audio for the file but whilst I get a glimpse of the first frame the video is then distorted.
So I’m not sure why I can play ’em in MP12, but I can. Maybe you need GOM and windows live movie maker installed and one or t’other brings in a codec with it? I doubt VLC or MPC as they wont play the file at all.
Dunno if all this helps or not?
EDIT – Also I notice on my desktop W7 machine, if you right-click the wtv file there is a ‘convert to’ option. Maybe these converted files will run on your netbook (Not tried it, dont know if its a copy or an overwrite conversion). However, on my W7(starter) netbook I seem to have the wtvconverter program but it isn’t on the right-click menu and it doesn’t seem to run either?

Memberwayne0357,
Have a read of http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/14494-User-Guide-just-black-now
I’ve been in touch with Samsung support via email from the website, and it appears if you supply them with certain data – serial number, purchase date etc, they will send you a hard copy of the manual, allegedly!
I didn’t take them up on the offer, I asked for an updated Flash or preferably a PDF copy for download, but received what seems to me a negative response. I personally don’t want to carry a userguide around, I quite like having it on the netbook, and on my other ‘backup’ PC, as a PC readable guide.
But if you email them and complain, then if they are true to their word, they will apparently send you a hard copy.

MemberIt sounds like a possibly dodgy trackpad, but you can set up a similar situation with ‘tapping’ and ‘tap zones’. I’m not a tapping person and tend to turn it off.
Fred232
Memberwayneniamat, twas just a guess 🙂
in msconfig in services, it has:
‘Bluetooth Service’ ticked and ‘Bluetooth support service’ ticked.
in startup it has:
‘Bluetooth Software’ and its started by being in my menu startup folder. (BTTray.exe)
I thought there was a 2nd in startup, but on closer inspection it was a BTconnectionservice for British Telecom not Bluetooth.
Fred232
MemberHave you possibly turned it off?
On mine you can turn it on/off with (well I think its 10 – have a look at the function keys).
or, have a look in MSCONFIG startup tab. There a pointing device driver, well in mine there is, that you may have un-ticked.
If its not that, post back.
Welcome to the forum.

MemberProbably agreed with such small differences. I’d still like to know why the DDR2 and DDR3 scores around the same though. Surely DDR3 (esp as its 1066 against 800) should have scored more – unless the bottleneck is elsewhere in the design?
Adding the extra definitely seems to be worth it though I’d have said. The old N220 seems ‘snappier’ when opening a few windows and min and max-ing windows etc. Of course it may all be in the mind as having added it you are hoping to see the increase 😉 but I’d say its better with than without.
I guess we could run SiSoft Sandra memory scores and see what the through put of memory speed is reported as?
EDIT – That didn’t take long, I’d left ‘Sandra’ loaded. Netbook idle, not connected to internet, on batteries or mains.
Memory Bandwidth (N220 DDR2)
Int – 3.115GB/s
Float – 2.645 GB/sI dunno if thats good or bad ?, but it gets a WEI of 4.6

Memberstefanjan, Interesting info. I guess it may make sense though, as the test may mainly concentrate on the speed of the ram rather than the amount. I’m not sure just guessing.
But I was wondering mainly, why DDR2-800 seems to score almost as well (or virtually the same) as DDR3-1066 ram?
I would have hoped that the DDR3 would have been faster by quite an amount, as the CPU score is.Fred232
MemberI don’t think its W7 starter.
I’m using W7 starter on an N220, and if Ive followed what you are saying correctly, the options work for me.Fred232
MemberI’m interested in these scores. I have an old N220 with the single core CPU and DDR2-800 ram.
Am I correct in thinking the NFxxx has DDR3-1066.Anyway my scores are:
Processor 2.3
Memory 4.6
Graphics 2.9
Gaming Graphics 3.0
Primary Hard disk 5.9When I added 2G my ram went up from 4.5 to 4.6, but the graphics went down from 3.0 to 2.9.
I would have thought that the memory score should be a bit higher on the newer DDR3 machines, maybe not.
I’m jealous of the CPU score though 🙁
