Hi I’m a newbie so please treat me gently!
I have been bought a Samsung netbook on special purchase from John Lewis here in the UK. It is labelled a N250 Plus, but I can find no reference to that model on this site or on the Samsung site. I am assuming it is a re numbering of an existing model for John Lewis’s special purchase. Can anyone enlighten me to what generic model in the Samsung range it is equivalent to please?
Thanks in anticipationJanuary 4, 2011 at 12:23 pm #216872jezMember
Hi Ian, I have not heard of an N250 myself before now! I’d be very interested to hear from anyone who knows about it…
Might be worth pinging Samsung support an email if no one here knows anything. I’ll certainly keep my eyes open.January 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm #216874Fred232Member
It looks like its on their web site – http://www.johnlewis.com/231070859/Product.aspx
another similar spec’d netbook (if thats the one). Model NP-N250-JP01UK.January 4, 2011 at 1:08 pm #216882CobalticBlueMember
I also ordered on of these yesterday.
There is some footage from a Computer show in the summer on youtube. Looks like a pimped N150.January 4, 2011 at 4:24 pm #216885sterushtonMember
Not sure I can help but I was looking at this a week or so ago and I too couldn’t find any reference too it anywhere on the web so was a bit dubious, it seemed very similar to the N150plus I eventually got. The blue colour swung the decision, honestly. I’m such an IT idiot.January 5, 2011 at 11:04 pm #216886andy FensomeMember
I also just bought one myself from John Lewis. It was the 2 year guarantee that swung it! Does anyone know where I could buy a keyboard protector for this N250? I am one clumsy pillock and I bet I spill something on it. Cheers for any advice!January 6, 2011 at 12:34 pm #216880
Thnaks for all your repsonses
Mine is exactly the one that fred 232 references on the JLP site. I will contact Samsung as Jez suggests and post the reply on hereJanuary 6, 2011 at 7:46 pm #216887andy FensomeMember
Ian, you are going to struggle. I got nowhere with Samsung, they do not know anything about the N250+. John Lewis were zero help too. I do not think it is a UK model and am beginning to wish I had not bought it. If its not recognised by Samsung in the UK, it might be a bit difficult to buy accessories (like the keyboard protector I want) or spare parts going forward. I have noticed that Carphone Warehouse are advertising these N250+ machines out as well (on a “3” contract). Has this machine been discontinued or is it so new that Samsung have never even heard of it? Have we been sold a Pup here?January 6, 2011 at 10:34 pm #216877
I think it is a new machine as the N145P came out before it was on the Samsung website. The easiest way to check is the code above the serial number on the bottom of the machine.
The Carphone Warehouse N250 is a new addition and can be seen here: http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/broadband/laptops-and-netbooks/buy/SAMSUNG-N250

I think it is really new.
Mine has a build date of Dec 2010.January 7, 2011 at 4:22 pm #216878
Wow, I thought my N145P was new with a manufacturing date of November 2010. Samsung are not wasting any time in delivering their stock – I bet they are not using Royal Mail 🙂January 7, 2011 at 6:48 pm #216875Fred232Member
Looks like it may be on the Russian website – http://www.samsung.com/ru/consumer/computers-peripherals/notebooks/netbooks/NP-N250-JP01RU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification – anyone speak Russian? 🙂
And Columbia I think – http://www.samsung.com/co/consumer/monitor-peripherals-printer/notebooks/netbook/NP-N250-JP01CO/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support – may have more luck with Spainish 🙂
Mind you though, with the NF310 in mind I don’t s’pose that will mean Samsung UK will support it, or does it? I wonder what J Lewis will do if they bust in warranty if Samsung UK don’t support it? Surely they must.January 8, 2011 at 10:53 am #216881
Andy, You’re right. I got nowhere with Customer services, a totally underwhelming experience!. The first guy took down all the details, got nowhere when I asked for product information, and asked for his supervisor to step in. I repeated everything to him and he acknowledged it was a genuine Samsung product but could not point me to any links about it or even something on their own web site. He told me, with no conviction in his voice, that it may be that the web marketing people had not yet added it to the site, so after 13 minutes on the phone I gave up.
Mine has a Dec 2010 build date so perhaps it is new. I see it is still not listed amongst the netbooks on their site, but am pleased to see Fred 232 has found a support link on the samsung site. I am a long term supporter of John Lewis so would have been very surprised if they had been selling anything the least bit “hot” and it appears they were not. Just a pity Samsung have not made a bit more of it.January 8, 2011 at 12:33 pm #216879
As I said previously, the N145P started arriving in the shops at least a month before it ended up on Samsung’s website.
I suppose it just takes Samsung web team a little while to update the site:)

I’ve just got one and it is really slow.
I’m wondering about more RAM. Anyone know the max permissible? Anyone tried this?
Or even ReadyBoost. Anyone tried this?
