Win 7 seems to be pretty solid, I’m running it full time on both the NC10 and my Toshiba Equium laptop.

You’re going to get the lag unless you use a program which has low latency sound drivers. You could try the ASIO4ALL drivers – http://www.asio4all.com/ (ASIO4ALL is a hardware independent low latency ASIO driver for WDM audio devices).

Up to 33 with some snowy scenes, very unusual for us to get snow on the coast.
I saw my friends white one which was very nice, but I went for the blue instead because it looks classier to me. YMMV. 🙂
I now get 5.4 for my Western Digital HDD after a Win 7 suggested driver download, previously it was 2.0.
I went the bear bones route, I use an internal IDE DVD drive connected by a IDE to USB converter. Cables everywhere. 🙂
