MemberMine started having the case problem on the left hinge side about 3 weeks after I purchased the netbook. To be proactive before something stripped I tightened the screws on the back about a month ago and have had no problems since.

saltyzip – Welcome to the forumLet us know how you get on with Samsung, if you have time.
[/quote1268677480]Just had my wifes netbook back from repair. I dropped it into my local service centre, Centerprise International Ltd and was in for four days.
The hinge is now fixed and the laptops had a complete new bezel around the screen and keyboard fitted. I asked him what was wrong and he said the brass screws had come loose on the hinge, sometimes this is due to them becoming overtightened in the factory.
He didn’t have a look at the wireless N dropping so still at square one with that.
Will see how things hang together going forward.

I assume he means overtightened as in stripped.March 27, 2010 at 9:10 am #205346AdminBC
MemberI have exactly the same problem with my netbook. I have called Samsung and after major arguments with them, eventually they agreed to send for collection.
Explaining them that I cannot let them have the netbook for two weeks just so that they can see what and if the hinges can be fixed, their replay was that if I am not happy I should write a complaint letter. Which I did with no result so far, obviously. I decided to go down the only available router so I have been waiting for the collection guy to arrive for 2 weeks now but yes, you’ve guessed it, nobody’s arrived. I have called Samsung 5 times now and each time they’ve arranged a new collection date, never respected. Apparently the guy supposed to collect the laptop works for a company that deals with all Samsung repairs in UK:

From their website I understand that they repair freezers as well…no comment…March 27, 2010 at 1:39 pm #205245jeepers01

MemberThe chassis on the keyboarded side was strengthened. They have added supporting columns along where the screw is secured, as before this was shattering. Hopefully this means that the problem will now be recognised by Samsung, as they have altered the way the product is made. If you hinge has not got any strengthening shafts then that is the older model, which by their changing it, shows that there is a known problem!
Hope this will help you all if you come up against the “We don’t know…must be user damageâ€

MemberHi
I’ve also been suffering this broken hinge problem for quite some time. All my calls to Samsung have proven to be useless and I’m just very fustrated with the way they are handling a problem that is their own fault. On that note, I was wondering if anyone has the actual product/item number for the part that needs to be replaced?? I’m guessing it will be the entire bottom panel. I wan to see if Samsung will just ship me the actual part so I can install it myself. Thanks!!

Participantasmpic – Welcome to the forum
You could try digicare.co.uk as they are the UK Samsung repair agents.
Or try MK Computer ELECTRONIC GmbH
Hope this helps

MemberCan you believe it?
My N510’s hinge was broken again! It was fixed in Jan, after 3 months of casual usage, it’s broken again!
I am calling Samsung again and see if they can fix it this time faster! (Last time it took them 3 weeks!)

Participantasiayeah – Sorry to learn of the re-occurrence of the hinge problem, that is really bad luck.
Let us know how you get on with Samsung.

MemberMy hinge is nearly completely gone too, I’m wary of even opening the thing. I’ll be calling Samhelp tomorrow. I’ll keep you updated.
