TCMuffin MemberWelcome to the forum, hotsryam 🙂 Doubling RAM will allow you to run more processes (programs) concurrently. Doubling RAM will not make an individual process run quicker. As to whether it’s worth paying ~£40 to upgrade your RAM, only you know what you want to use your Sammy for and the state of your finances 🙂 TCMuffin MemberHave you tried booting into Safe mode (press the F8 key as your Sammy is starting) 😕 Does the Q: also exist in Safe mode? If so, can you now delete the drive? Ya in short i do some extreme stuff and consider it basic so i be sorry about that ahead of time..
 [/quote1265637152]
No need to apologise – it’s always really interesting to know about other people’s mods – the more extreme (or unusual) the better – it’s how we learn and grow 🙂Thank you again TCMuffin Member[quote1265636137=erikgarmo]
I wonder if updating the bios would help, but I’m not sure I can upgrade with the bios from 3rd of february from the UK site when I bought the computer in Sweden?
 [/quote1265636137]
The BIOS on Samsung’s UK site is multilanguage so should be OK for your Swedish netbook:[quote1265636137=erikgarmo]
Could be that I forgot to install some software or driver after reinstalling with a win 7 pro instead of the bundled starter edition?
 [/quote1265636137]
Unlikely – I have reformatted the factory fitted HDD in my NC10 on several occasions and reinstalled the OSes (both XP and 7) but I’ve never installed any Samsung software and I’ve not had a problem with my keyboard.February 8, 2010 at 1:29 pm in reply to: NP-N210-JA02US N210 Adding MINI PCI E Socket for HD Decoder & Removal of Anti Glare on LCD #210466TCMuffin MemberWelcome to the forum, tlordon, and thank you for sharing your experiences 🙂 Just a note of caution – dissembling a new LCD screen to remove an anti-glare layer seems an extreme mod – be very careful if you choose to follow tlordon’s example. TCMuffin MemberWelcome to the forum, erikgarmo 🙂 The only thing I can think of is to check that the keyboard hasn’t been made easier to use in the Ease of Access Center 😕 Left click on the Start > Control Panel > Ease of Access Center and select the third option from the bottom – i.e. the ‘Make the keyboard easier to use’. Make sure that none of the boxes have a tick in them: TCMuffin MemberSorry to hear that it didn’t work out 🙁 I know it’s no comfort, but I have resized partitions on a number of occasions without having a problem. “NFTLDR is missing”
 [/quote1265622330]
 Do you mean NTLDR 😕[quote1265622330=skkqq]
i could not restart even with my recovery disks.
 [/quote1265622330]
Which recovery disks were you using and how did you try to restart your Sammy?[quote1265622330=skkqq]
So the engoneer has to reboot using a disk
 [/quote1265622330]
I don’t understand how the engineer can reboot using a disk when you were unable to do this 😕[quote1265622330=skkqq]
 Have to reinstall Windows 7
 [/quote1265622330]
You shouldn’t have to reinstall W7 because you have a NTLDR missing – NTLDR is part of the Windows XP boot process. You can repair the boot process for Windows 7 by booting from a Windows 7 DVD/USB stick.Regardless of any of the above points, as I recommended in my second post in this thread, the most important lesson to learn from this incident is: Always make backups of all your data before making major changes to your system. TCMuffin MemberYes – just going to watch the rugby – I’ll be back later. C’mon Scotland 🙂 TCMuffin MemberPoints 5 to 8 in my earlier instructions TCMuffin Member[quote1265552659=skkqq]
 I dont have a Windows 7 DVD
 [/quote1265552659]
You may not need it.TCMuffin Member[quote1265552474=skkqq]
 Now it is gone wrong
 [/quote1265552474]
This is why you needed to backup all your data before starting to change a HDD’s partitions.[quote1265552474=skkqq]
I have something called “unallocated volume” which appears but its not showing on any other drive , how do I get that volume back in use or move it to another drive
 [/quote1265552474]
The unallocated volume is what you use to extend your D:/ drive.TCMuffin MemberRight click on your W7 partition and select ‘Mark Partition as Active’ then try deleting the E: drive and extending the D: drive. You may need to boot into your Windows 7 DVD (load it on a USB stick) to run Startup Repair up to three separate times as it will attempt to repair and then rewrite the MBR to Windows 7, so that you can boot into your Windows 7 partition. TCMuffin Member[quote1265549905=skkqq]
how I remove the E and transfer the volume back to D preferably ?
 [/quote1265549905]
If you follow the instructions in my previous post – you need to delete the E: partition and extend the D: partition to use the space freed up by removing the E: drive:-
*In points 3 and 4 above you will be deleting the E: drive.
*I have changed point 5 in the above post to show you increasing the size of the D: drive. *In points 6 to 8 above you will be extending the D: drive to take advantage of the space released by deleting the E: drive. TCMuffin Member[quote1265545369=skkqq]
Ok thanks, Why do I need to back up stuff on my windows 7 partition? surely thats safe , 99% ?
 [/quote1265545369]
Yes – the stuff on your W7 partition is probably 99% safe. However, when you are resizing partitions, if anything goes wrong you risk losing everything.
