MemberDidn’t people post that Tales didn’t work on the NC10? That’d be my main concern. (It’s still the Telltale Engine.)
Otherwise, I know that 800×600 is a resolution option in the game from playing it on my main computer. (I’ve already finished Tales part 1.)

MemberDoes it happen with any of the screensavers that normally come with Windows? (Beziers, Starfield, 3D Pipes…)

MemberFrom poking around the Web: the normal recommendation for this type of error is to boot to a console and do chkdsk /r and, if needed, fixboot. It sounds like you couldn’t get there in this case, but I wanted to post in case someone else finds this thread later on. :)

MemberThe Atom processor used in the N110 has Hyper-Threading, which looks like 2 CPUs to Windows when enabled. (I’m assuming you’re seeing two graphs under CPU Usage History and one under Page File Usage History.)

MemberI always clean install as well. It’s a good excuse to get bigger HDs too. :)

MemberTrue, but everyone jumped to outside methods without mentioning it. It’s much better to look before diving into registry editing, for example.
Glad you found something that works for you.

MemberIf you’re talking about the Windows Explorer, I go into the program whose context menu options I don’t want anymore and turn them off. (Don’t overlook the simple solutions. :)

MemberFWIW, I wouldn’t clone a failing drive directly. Instead, I’d put it into an external case and see what data I can get off of it. Then install the OS clean on the replacement and copy your data back using some other form of transport.
Don’t forget to RMA your old drive when you’re done with it!

MemberDoes the Device Manager show any problems? (Win+R, type “devmgmt.msc”, Enter)
Is there anything listed in the device dropdowns in the Audio tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices Control Panel?
(I’d lean more towards a hardware problem as well, but these are some places to look for more info.)

MemberYup. I have a bug in there from a number of years ago which prevents me from moving any of my “spreadsheet apps” over to OpenOffice without starting from scratch. If I had to start from scratch I’d write an actual application instead, but that’s a lot of work. Guess I’m sticking with Excel 2003. :)

MemberNormally Windows XP would prompt you if it needs drivers for something new you’ve plugged in, and one of the options would be to search Windows Update. Not sure what happened here. ::shrug::
The Chipset software includes the information files and (occasionally) drivers for things like the USB and SATA controllers. The NC10 has an Intel 945 series chipset.
Snipe: from what I can gather, the Zen V Plus is only an MTP device and doesn’t use USBSTOR.sys. I don’t know that for sure, though.

MemberFWIW, I have a Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro USB that works fine with my NC10. Here’s the thread I started on it.
The antenna it comes with is pretty boring: a telescoping antenna on a small magnetic platform. Still, it picked up all of the major stations in our area. (It probably works even better now since analog is gone.) I don’t use it for TV (I use it for video in) so unfortunately I don’t have a recommendation for a better antenna than that one.
Good luck!

MemberIsn’t this an Applications thread? (Notably, haven’t we had a bunch of threads on this topic already in that forum?)
ObTopic: I’ve played around with some of the similar settings and skins for Opera, but eventually went with something close to the same settings I use on my desktop. If those extra pixels really matter, I can always go full-screen. :)
