MemberI can only say that XP runs great on my NC10! Many people put Win 7 onto theirs and found it ran equally well.
Is there anything specifically that feels slow or just general sluggishness? For what its worth I found swapping to Chrome made a massive difference when browsing.

MemberYeah, so just changing the brightness down will extend the remaining time for example. I would look at the indicator as a rough guide, when you start getting low make sure you can get to a recharger or start implementing the power saving techniques (turn down brightness, switch off WiFi, etc)!
The rest of the time, don’t worry too much about it. You start to get a feel for it anyway.

MemberHmmm, I’m not entirely sure what the situation is but there should be some others on the forum who have done this upgrade. There are definitely lots of threads discussing how to restore the original partition after wiping it so it is possible it might be lost – perhaps those threads will mention how they came to lose it!
In fact someone was just asking something similar.
Hopefully someone who knows will be able to explain just how it works.

MemberHi Wolf, I’ve not heard of DAoC, which mean I’ll be no help – a quick Google suggests the Dark Age of Camelot. Is there a minimum spec for the game, sounds like a gfx card or screen resolution prob perhaps?

MemberI’ve noticed Amazon.com have the NF310 listed, but not at ca:
http://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=samsung+nf310&x=0&y=0
Thanks for the update Rob, as Fred says, are you getting one?

MemberI guess these are cracks that have come through normal wear and tear? Must admit my NC10 has been slung around in my bag daily for two years and I’ve had no probs with the case (the screen cable did need replacing though!).
Hope you have better luck with the next one, whichever make you go for :)!

MemberYou could also try an alternative browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

MemberHi Chippy, welcome to the site – shame (as is often the case) the first post isn’t under happier circumstances! I don’t recall reading anything like this before – but that doesn’t mean someone else won’t be able to chip in with something helpful.
Grasping at straws here, but calibration sprung to mind.

MemberIf no one can offer a direct answer it’s worth a having a look round the forum to see if someone has done it already – the hacks and mods area is another place to look. If you can’t find anything directly applicable some of the other upgrade accounts will prove useful and if you end up doing it obviously some pics and thoughts on what you did would be much appreciated!!

Member2gb is always a good bet, it won’t change your world but for the price it’s silly not to add it in! I am still on XP but I know others have put the top level Win 7 on without problem. You can always configure bits and pieces off if you have problems. I guess the question to ask is whether you need the extra features on off, if you do I’d go for the high end version. Else save yourself some cash.
Not sure what software comes with the N210 but I get the impression most of the Sammy software is useful. I only removed McAfee on my NC10 and there wasn’t anything else on there other than the Samsung stuff so it was pretty easy. Often people find things like the FN key etc stop working after an OS upgrade so you do need to download and install the right bits and pieces – but it’s all on the official site.

MemberWhere did you buy it? A British keyboard doesn’t sound so bad to me – but then I am in Britain ;)!
jez
MemberI’m not quite sure what you mean about the netbook freezing, but I can tell you the padlock icon indicates that caps lock is on. The one with a 1 is the numlock indicator.
jez
MemberThe R720 falls outside the models normally covered on the forum, but don’t worry, let’s see if anyone can help!
I guess the obvious thing is drivers – are they official Win 7 drivers for that model then? I guess the only way to prove it’s a software prob would be to roll back to the previous install.
jez
MemberWould be a shame if it wasn’t released here. I’d also be surprised if it wasn’t – all the main models have made it to the UK to date.
The NF210 is on pre order at http://www.amazon.co.ukjez
MemberI’ve checked the original press release and it’s not very specific to be honest.
I’ve email Amzaon to ask which is correct! Let’s see..
