On slot1 3.3Vaux is direct connected to 3.3V and I did same bridge on slot2.
I found PERST# from slot1 and slot2 on two pads close to each other and bridged them too.
Same thing with W_DISABLE. Found it from slot1 and slot2 on two pads and bridged them too. Its possible to put an pullup beside that bridge but I’am not sure if it needed.Maybe I only needed to do that 3.3Vaux bridge but my measurings shows no pullup or pulldowns on W_DISABLE or PERST# on slot2. That’s why I guess they aren’t connected.[/quote1265407191]
To verify PERST# and W_DISABLE pins check the resitance between pins 22 on each slot and the same for pin 20. If they are each connected from common points there will be for 0 ohms but as you have bridged them it will probably not be necessary now however a pull up is probably not required for W_DISABLE as it will probably already be fitted. If that is so you should see approx 10k ohms between W_DISABLE and the 3.3V rail. Note there are usually 2 x 3.3V rails, one being the AUX 3.3V rail on pin 24 (P3.3V_AUX) which you shouldn’t need to connect to and is probably more de-coupled/smoothed.
Quote:I didn’t really understand how to bridge W_DISABLE and PERST# with caps. And if I should use a resistor, what value should I use?Capacitors will probably not be necessary and maybe a meg ohm resistor will prevent stray currents but if you are not sure/confident don’t try it. That said you have already bridged them so just check the readings are still the same.
Quote:I guess W_DISABLE isn’t needed to be connected but maybe there is a need for PERST# as it resets add-on cards on power-up.I would think that they derive their instructions from the bios through the Micom so in that sense they would not be that important to get the Broadcom card working but without them a cold boot may be required to reset the slot.
Quote:I haven’t done anything to REFCLK+/- or CLKREQ but I don’t think it is needed. CLKREQ seams to have same resistans to 3.3V and GND as on slot1.Ok but they will be seperate clock lines from the clock chip so you are probably seeing the resistance through the chip itself.
Quote:I have however detected my broadcom HD card on slot2 in Windows 7 but I don’t know how to confirm if it is really working. I got and error about a problem to register bcmMFT.dll when installing the drivers. It’s good news that the card is detected. I’ve not got the broadcom card installed but it sounds software rather than hardware related 🙂
It may be an idea to take the further detailed discussion to PM’s as we are probably boring the hell out of everybody else reading the posts.
However it looks encouragingly like a solution is nearly there 🙂
Hope this helps

Participant[quote1265394365=ankan]I don’t know if I only need to bridge some pins or if I should solder some capacitors and resistors. I know that 3.3Vaux, PERST# and W_DISABLE is not connected and need to be bridged or connected via cap. or res.[/quote1265394365]
A few thoughts:The 3.3V Aux should be readily checked on pin 24 however there may be an in series resistor missing but that may be missing from both slots?
PERST# and W_DISABLE pins 22 and 20 should be connected on both slots already since they will be connected to the Micom.
If they are not connected on slot2 then bridging pins 22 to 22 and 20 to 20 between both slots may be worth considering. If you try that then a high value resistor in series will probably be needed as a precautionary measure and indeed capacitor isolation may be another alternative but do take care as I have not tried it!There may also be a smoothing capacitor not fitted to the 3.3V Aux line to pin 24 which may be the capacitor you think is not fitted.
Quote:I don’t know if REFCLK+/- and CLKREQ# is connected or where I have to bridge them.REFCLK+/- should be present on pins 11 and 13 from the main clock circuit.
Have you checked out pin 7, CLKREQ ? Is it enabled on slot2?
CLKREQ# on pin 7 will be derived from different sources on the clock chip for each slot so will not be common to both slots.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Participantmoledog – Welcome to the forum

ParticipantHarryHarris – Try BatteryBar it’s far more accurate than the Windows offering and will become more accurate with use.
Hope this helps

Participanttintii – Glad it all worked out in the end, albeit slow as it was.
How does the HP compare? Are you pleased with it?

ParticipantI agree with jesper, if you are on talktalk then set the MTU=1432 (max transmission unit = 1432 bytes) in the router.
Makes a big difference 🙂

ParticipantJust a thought – I wonder if these issues are happening with the 05CU bios released on 15 January 2010?
It might be an issue addressed in the update, but unfortunately Samsung do not issue any notes with their bios updates.
Hope this helps

ParticipantJayne – Just noticed that you have ticked up through 3000 posts – well done, keep it up 🙂

Participanttonypony – The upgrades sound interesting 🙂

ParticipantEggbox – I would say that if your N110 is running well then if it ain’t broke don’t fix it 🙂
I only upgrade the bios if there is a tangible benefit by doing so, else I leave it alone.
The problem is that Samsung do not issue bios notes on the changes so I would wait until other forum members post noted improvements before considering changing the bios.
If you have thanked posts with the “Thank Post” button then your profile should list the thanked posts. If it is not doing this then PM jez and ask him to resolve the issue.
Hope this helps

Let us know what you think of your new N150 if you have time 🙂

ParticipantI thought that the keyboard sub layer, ie. the printed circuit board, not the keys themselves, is coated in the silver nano particles.
I remember that there used to be a picture and description on the Samsung website a long while ago but I cannot find it any more 😛

Hi Jeepers
You have just saved this n140 from being listed on e bay,
The tabbing got me to the button, And it worked…
Thanks Sooooo much for your time, I will give erm one more go to see if i can get it working.[/quote1265239398]Your welcome, glad it helped.jeepers01
