Membertooeasy1075, welcome to the forum.
I assume that Display changer, mentioned in one of the links in my previous post doesn’t work then ๐
I think there must be a way to run it as I’m sure I read somewhere that someone had it running on an NC10. I don’t have the game to test, just found it by searching.

Memberuniquelymilchimley, welcome to the forum.
I know the feeling, A while back I emailed them and got a non-committal answer to say the least as well.
I guess the answer is “it ain’t gonna be” but no one knows why.Fred232
MemberSpud, thats a shame.
With regard to drivers, not sure I follow. If by ‘other drivers’ you mean nvidia or ATI (example) then no. But you can update your Intel GPU drivers with newer correct intel ones. BUT search on this forum first for ‘brightness issues’ as some of the recent drivers seem to adversly effect the brightness adjustment.
If you say you can plug your monitor into your netbook and the game runs OK on the external monitor, then (I’m no expert but) I would have thought that it would be using the Intel GPU anyway. The problem may be that these netbooks dont have a real 1024×768 resolution (well the N220 doesn’t, not sure about your model) its native res is something like 1024×600 and the 1024×768 is acheived by a special software program supplied by samsung. Maybe this does not fool the game? Try taking the res even further, mine has a setting for 1152×864 and see if that helps – doubt it but worth a try.
If it is the GPU missing certain functionality then 3D Analyse may assist. I did find this to give you a general idea and the list of supported games includes your Falcon 4: Allied Force.
Else hopefully someone who has the game running OK will ‘chip in’
I Did find these posts re RES problems
http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/7142-Forcing-games-to-run-on-a-1024×600-screen (links to something called display changer)
http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/11950-1024-X-768-resolutionEDIT – I should add, I’ve not used any of these progs myself so cannot vouch for them, I only searched and googled. Also, whilst I’m certain they will be OK, as usual always AV check before installing anything and check for OS compatibility etc before installing (i.e. don’t load an XP only program on W7 etc). Sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs ๐
EDIT 2 – With a moment to spare, I did a bit of further searching and found this – http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intel945gm/sb/CS-021400.htm it lists Falcon 4: Allied force as a worker. Or is that a different 945 chipset?

Members4sarah, welcome to the forum.
I start by saying I haven’t done this but there was a link on the site (somewhere) to http://netbookmag.com/2009/02/03/tutorial-samsung-nc10-touchscreen-installation/ which leads on to a video http://netbookmag.com/tag/nc10-touchscreen/ This was for an NC10 but I don’t know if other kits are available. Looks a lot of mod work to me even if it is available for your N140. Is that the kind of thing you were after?
I believe the N140 has a VGA out socket so have you tried it to the projector, does it work?
What about this sort of thing for the drawing, seems easier to me. There are loads of different ones around to pick from. Just make sure you get one that works with your netbook (I think most recent ones should) and through to your projector.
Hopefully someone will ‘chip-in’ who knows a bit more in-depth info.

MemberGuess – try setting to 16bit colour (maybe).
My N220 defaults to 32 bit, maybe the game needs 16bit.
In my case its, right-click the desktop, Graphics Properties, Display Settings, colour quality.
or
right click the desktop, screen resolution, advanced settings, on the tab, list all modes and pick 1024×768 16bit.Note the N220 has W7 starter and an Intel GMA 3150, but I would have thought yours has similar settings somewhere.
Maybe not but Probably worth a try. EDIT – Also found this on a google, maybe?

Member__spc__ Cripes if you can remember what you did I think there would be a few grateful people, well at least one (me).
Ive had my wireless set for no ‘n’ just using ‘b and g’ for quite a while now. ‘n’ has always been rubbish for me and I was getting cut-off despite getting an apparently excellent signal strength three or four times a day. ‘b and g’ seem to have stopped that type of cut-off, or at least greatly reduced its frequency, but not the resume/repair/disable/enable one, I still have that. Also in practice I find that the difference in speed I was getting between ‘n’ and ‘g’ was minimal at best, so no real loss to dump ‘n’ in my case.
I’m running in the UK on a BT Home Hub 2. ‘n’ cut-off wise, I’m not sure where the problem is, my netbook or the BT hub. But I’d guess the resume issue must be the netbook??

MemberEugene7, my N220 has a Realtek, and has a Power setting but in a different place/tab.
There is no Power Management in Advanced as Jeepers has, but there is a tick box in the Power Management tab which I think is supposed to do the same thing (entitled “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”. However, I had tried both ticking and unticking this box before and it does not help in this case.
Fred232
MemberEugene7,
Not that it helps you much, but I have similar on my N220 on resume. Usually disabling the network adapter and re-enabling it works for me.

MemberThis isn’t the dreaded Intel driver again is it? http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/13700-N220-Fn-keys-not-working-Brightness-issues!!!?highlight=brightness and a few other posts.
Did you update anything via windows update for example?
Fred232
MemberThanks, thats interesting. Quick look if I haven’t misread it – so it appears I can load any W7 from disc (I have a copy for my desktop) but use the Samsung netbooks key.
I’ll read in more detail later.
TVM
(should have said I have SRS4 if that matters)
Fred232
MemberNobbyNobbs & __spc__,
I use SRS4 to backup to an external HD as well.
But I’ve just realized I may have missed something.
What happens if the netbook HD dies and you have to replace it?
How do you get the external backup back into place on the new HD?In other words: Is the on boot running from BIOS or something, or does it run from software on the HD?
In which case, if the new HD is blank, how do you reload the backup?Fred232
Memberlisa10, welcome to the forum.
I’d have to say that I find the external CD/DVD writer V useful but not essential in day to day running.
A lot depends on how you/your daughter uses the netbook, and what she wants to do.
I personally back everything up to an external USB2 Hard drive every so often, using something like Acronis and if disaster struck out of warranty, then I guess a bootable ‘external device’ could be V useful indeed.Games: I play a few games on my N220, but again it depends on what games she likes. Anything graphically intensive is unlikely to work well. Have a look at this list to see what typically runs. I guess it depends on your daughters age and the type of games she likes and you allow.
A lot of games and programs can be purchased and downloaded from the net and do not require a DVD/CD or USB stick. But if you have a collection of old DVD/CD games, then an external drive is a nice relatively cheap add-on. Although, if you have a desktop PC as well and a network then you can ‘share’ connect to that and use the desktop CD/DVD as a shared resource. (not totally sure, its late ๐ this is the right link but I *think* it gives the idea)
Again with the screen size, I guess it depends on what games.
Just my opinion, I’m sure others will comment and assist. Post back if you need more details.

MemberLooks like it may be on the Russian website – http://www.samsung.com/ru/consumer/computers-peripherals/notebooks/netbooks/NP-N250-JP01RU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification – anyone speak Russian? ๐
And Columbia I think – http://www.samsung.com/co/consumer/monitor-peripherals-printer/notebooks/netbook/NP-N250-JP01CO/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support – may have more luck with Spainish ๐
Mind you though, with the NF310 in mind I don’t s’pose that will mean Samsung UK will support it, or does it? I wonder what J Lewis will do if they bust in warranty if Samsung UK don’t support it? Surely they must.

MemberIt is a basic OS compared to the other W7 versions, the main limitations are:
- Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the โWindows Basicโ or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
- Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
- The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
- Multi-monitor support.
- DVD playback.
- Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
- Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
- Domain support for business customers.
- XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.
TBH, I’m not sure about sync-ing data between systems, I don’t do it, I guess someone will let you know for sure. (It does have sync center in its control panel, so I guess it can ) Anyone?
Have a search on the forum re W7 32bit v 64bit and have a look at this link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questions There has been some discussions on the forum about if its worth loading 64bit on a netbook or not, some say yes some (most? seem to say) say no. There are issues such as getting the correct 64bit drivers etc to be resolved. Basically, 64 bit will let you access far more ram memory, whereas 32bit is limited to 4G max, about 3.5G in practice. However, it appears that while these netbooks can run a 64bit OS they cannot access more than 2G ram and so, probably the main advantage is lost on them. (this is greatly simplified, have a forum or web search for more detail).
