Member[quote1251672587=domshv]
Hi
I have adopted most of the tweaks and it runs really well. Could you just advise me which I need to change back to default to allow my NC10 to remember the Quick Launch settings when I turn off?
Thanks
Dom

Member…what should be looked for when diagnosing such issues?

Membermany thanks alfihar.
started battstatt 5 hours ago and it says it still has around 1 hour remaining. I have let this netbook idle all this time and put in a dark place where no-one can touch it. I just want to see what the battery can give at it’s best (idle and no programs running)…I’ll post the final hour life upon completion of test.
Can you shed some light on ‘SMART’ calibration and why this option should be selected?

The SMART battery calibration will use up a complete charge cycle, this isn’t really that bad.Can you try BattStat and check how many Watts your netbook is using while idle.
Around 10W to 11W seems not too bad if there hasn’t been any optimisations, with most things active (WiFi, Bluetooth, moderate brightness). That should probably give around 4:30 – 5 hours worth.
[/quote1251593178]How do I enter BIOS?
The bootup time is lightening fast and I am unable to detect what keys to press to interrupt bootup and enter BIOS.
Once in BIOS, what steps should be taken to arrive at ‘SMART’?
What is it about this configuration that is raising concerns?
I too have poor battery life but confirmed I do have a 5200mAh battery.
How should a new battery behave ?
When running BattStat, what is the best / ideal ‘scheme’ to set while performing this test?
And, (dumb question) – I assume I need to have AC disconnected and battery charged at 100% before I commence this BattStat test?
How long should I run the test for?

Memberok – fixed the keyboard issues and all is well – using all above information..
I will continue on the CM/Telstra config. setup on Tuesday….

MemberThanks guys.
I will play some more and report back.
Yes, it seems I have the UK keyboard because the ‘pound’ symbol is on the ‘2’ key.
I am really keen to use the dedicated ‘#’ and ‘@’ keys and not have to rely on hidden shift keys..
I have WinXP installed – stock.
Jeepers – At this point in time, I am unable to proceed with my CM/Telstra setup on the NC10 because I have loaned the SIM card out to a computer repair shop who is configuring my daughter’s netbook (Dell mini 9) with a new internal mini WWAN card install that needs to use this SIM card for confirmation of connectivity and signal strength optimisation. I should have this SIM card back next Tuesday – ready to use on my NC10 and continue my CM/Telstra setup.
All, stand by for keyboard issue progress…

MemberI am now able to see the @ symbol when I type it – but only if I press ‘Shift-2’.
And, I can only see the # symbol when i press “shift-3′.
Why can’t I see either symbol when I press the @, # keys near the ‘enter’ key.
What gives?
Please advise someone.

[quote1251231774=Byte]tried all that – with thanks.
I cannot “”ignite”” the hash key on my keyboard.
so i cannot complete this exercise.
Help?[/quote1251231774]
Are you saying you can’t type the ‘#’ character?Re-reading your OP I noticed you have connected with a USB modem. Check the settings that work with that and apply them to CM
[/quote1251257146]HI Jeppers –
Yes – correct I am unable to type that hash character. I press the relevant key with all different configurations (shift, ctrl, etc.) and on it”s own – without luck.
Thoughts on this one?
What settings that match the usb modem will be inputted into the CM?

Memberupdate –
I now realise i have to click into Samsungs own Connection Manager.
Soooo, I did this and made some progress – it recognises the sim card but will not connect – i see no uploading or downloading stream happening – all zero bytes.
PLease advise next steps.

Memberthanks.
i thought only the smaller sized 5300 intel cards suited netbooks..
Can anyone concur with Parsley that I need the full sized Intel 5300 card and not the half size to fit the NC10?
