Just curious what Windows 7 People are using for antivirus on there machines. <3 Linux and no need for it 🙂
Avast also…
It also updates itself 2 or three times a day: hows that for keeping up to date! 🙂
P.S before someone thinks I’ve cracked, cos my Signature says
Win XP; I’m dual booting XP and 7 – so I went and changed my signature to match!
I’ve used Avast for years. It’s remained outstanding. Extremely regular updates. No noticeable effect on PC performance. Als in regular independant test, it’s always in the top ranking applications for protection. To top it all it’s free for private home use.
The only other antivirus I’d ever look at now is NOD32, but that’s a paid for app and I don’t now if it works on Win 7.
I’d say a big YES to Kaspersky 2010. Updates itself about a couple of times a day, and if you insert a pen drive, does an immediate scan to ensure you are not importing viruses from other computers. Pretty reasonably priced too.
Microsoft Security Essentials works ok so far – doesnt impact the N140 that I can notice, and is free of course!
I am using MSE too.
I used AVG for years then changed to Avast more recently, along with SuperAntiSpyware. When MSE was released I decided to give that a go, based on the good reports testers have been posting.
I just use the free AVG antivirus on download.com
NOD32
MSE, after using it for a couple of weeks now on several machines I’ve been overall pretty impressed with it.
I used to use the free version of AVG and then went on to use Avast though I’ve ditched both of them now (this was on other versions of Windows though).
I use Avira Premium Security suite, just upgrade installed to W7 on my main laptop and it didn’t even blink an eye 🙂
Hej guys, since AVG released version 9 it runs fine on Windows 7. I had to uninstall MS security essentials because I had problems that it openend very large files and slowed down the whole system…
AVG always, always, always, always gave me problems with adware.
and i troubleshoot a lot of malfunctioning computers, and there’s a very high correlation with those machines and AVG, Lavasoft Adaware, and Limewire being installed in them. AVG often being the only software installed lead me to believe it was the problem.
however, i never took it to a scientific level to try and control the prediction, so it’s still an assumption to me, that AVG = death.
Am giving MSE a go 🙂
Mostly because it was quick and easy to download and install. AVG always seems a ‘mare as they try to sell you the premium version at every turn ;)!
