No price listed, but at least it is up there. Still no sign of the NC20.

March 26, 2009 at 12:49 pm #187590StunnedMonkeyMemberIs it just me, or does the NC10 just seem like the NC10SE, ie an NC10 with a bigger touchpad and better battery? Beyond that, what’s the difference?
March 26, 2009 at 4:42 pm #187592jayg30MemberAll that and a glossy screen (I believe I read customer reviews that said the SE actually ended up shipping with a matte screen).
Basically the way I’m seeing it is the SE was a way to get customers that really wanted to buy an NC10 but didn’t because they wanted a bit more battery life. These customers would be the ones that money was not the issue, and would gladly pay the extra bucks for the extra battery life over the NC10 or an alternative solution like the 1000HE.
It’s a profit maximizing technique called price discrimination. By selling the SE model they were able to maximize profits on those customers that still demanded the unit at the higher price tag. Once they have gained money from those sales (I’m sure they will continue to collect for the months until the NC110 model is available), now they can gain sales from basically the same product at a, what I’m going to assume to be a lower price. Also by using the Special Edition, and than releasing a new model, they will shield themselves from perhaps some negative feelings by most consumers that don’t really see what just happened.
It’s a very good strategy that just about every business uses at some point. I personally could care less and just hope that once the NC110 is released they supply sales of the higher 5800mAh battery as it looks to fit into the original NC10, which is a better overall system IMO as it has a matte screen and I dislike the red strip even more than the fake chrome.
March 26, 2009 at 9:22 pm #187587PugriderMemberFYI, there is now a vendor linked on the Samsung.Com website taking preorders for the N110. The price – $450.
If I had bought the NC10 SE from Amazon for $469 I would be ticked. However, the NC10SE does have a matte screen, and it appears that Samsung has swung over to the glossy camp.

March 29, 2009 at 1:40 pm #187588DerekMemberDid you notice on the Samsung site here that the NC110 is listed as having a maximum of 1 GB of system memory? Just to make sure I wasn’t interpreting the specs incorrectly, I went back to the NC10 specs, and sure enough they list the NC10 as having 2 GB max.
This seems like a giant step backwards if true!
March 29, 2009 at 10:41 pm #187591WantonWaffleMemberThe specs on some of those computers seem to be wrong sometimes.
April 1, 2009 at 2:00 pm #187589ktbMemberI have to admit, I fell in love with the N110 when it was in for the review. I don’t mind the glossy screen — I mostly can’t tell the difference when working, only when I put two side-by-side. I am now wringing my hands a bit over whether you get the N110 or the NC10SE. Basically just waiting to see what price Amazon puts on it.
