I am looking to upgrade my NC10 to 2GB memory, can anyone recommend a quality brand please. UK based. Many thanks
April 4, 2009 at 5:33 pm #188424pat-wMemberI got mine from crucial. You can get memory cheaper from play, but it only cost less than £20 for a name brand, so I paid the little extra.

Quidco is available also
BTY its really easy to fit, I was worried about doing it, but it was a breeze😉
April 4, 2009 at 5:52 pm #188435GrrrMemberI’ve just done it, took 5 mins. Read this excellent how to guide:

April 6, 2009 at 3:32 pm #188436GrrrMemberLet us know how you get on. That guide made the whole thing super easy.
AndyApril 6, 2009 at 4:38 pm #188425TCMuffinMemberThere’s also a video guide to adding RAM to the NC10 which you may find useful.
April 6, 2009 at 5:05 pm #188433simonknMemberCould you tell me how much faster the system runs once you’ve upgraded, too!?
I’ve got a stock black NC10 with 1gb and its running XP. I’m running Office 2007 Premium and Reason 3. They are the only “big” programs and it’s handling them superbly. Is there anything you guys/girls are running to warrant the extra memory or just banging it in ‘cos you can! (as it were!!)cheers
Simon K – another VERY satisfied customer!April 6, 2009 at 10:04 pm #188431beachMemberi got it for when i’m opening loads of tabs in firefox, . you know when you have hit your memory tab limit in firefox as its almost completely stops working. more memory is always good, even for surfing the internet.
April 6, 2009 at 10:26 pm #188434simonknMembergood point – not used Firefox but Safari and IE8 slow down under “pressure”. Any other big users??? Cheers Beech, ps, is that your wolf or husky?
April 6, 2009 at 11:32 pm #188432beachMemberits my virtual wolf. currently AWOL(f)

[/quote1239541085]I just watched the video, as I recently purchased my 2 GB upgrade (crucial). He mentions making sure to ground yourself. Probably a dumb question, but how do you ground yourself to avoid static?
April 12, 2009 at 1:18 pm #188426TCMuffinMemberIdeally, you should use a grounding strap, but you’ll prabably be OK if you just touch a metal part of a computer case which is still plugged into the mains supply. This should discharge any static you have on your body.
April 12, 2009 at 2:12 pm #188428mjpileggiMemberActually I did it! I followed the video and grounded myself by holding the screw driver and touching the metal part of the computer. Thanks.
April 13, 2009 at 6:32 pm #188430PosblueMemberHi finally went ahead and fitted it today having watched the video and read the guide. The cover had to be wiggled a bit but came off ok. Easily removed the existing memory. Went slightly wrong and did not ensure the teeth were fully in and so had to do it twice. 5 minute job very pleased. Picks it up automatically, having checked the system information. Early days but seems faster when using two applications at once. Thanks everyone
