November 30, 2008 at 5:41 pm #172301Serendip MemberPS… in Battery Bar, the “Full Lifetime” always says, “Calculating…” does it ever change from that? November 30, 2008 at 5:58 pm #172339Richard T Member[quote1228067843=WilliamYZF]
Having read through parts of the warranty terms it does state that the battery (as a consumable) is warranted for 12 months.I did notice in the Bios options that it has the ability with “Smart” batteries to give the battery a complete discharge, which I think can be benefiicial for some types of batteries. I currently giving this battery measuring stuff a miss as I might find it depressing!

I though that but after readong on another site that someone battery wear was 30% after 3 weeks or something he was given a replacement…November 30, 2008 at 6:13 pm #172324ezman Member[quote1228068732=Richard T]

[/quote1228070189]Well im just quoting he sent the battery back so i assume it was tested and they then decided in the circumstances a replacement will be issued November 30, 2008 at 6:44 pm #172306Freddy MemberHopefully it will stay at 5.8% for a good while, since I installed Battery Bar 2 weeks ago it said 5.8% and it has stayed there since. [quote1228070607=Serendip]
I’ve had mine for 9 days, and it says 5.8% through Battery Bar (thanks, Becky!)This is my first such device… any suggestions for how to preserve the battery? Should it be removed when fully charged, and I’m using the power adapter? Should I only use the battery when power isn’t possible? Any advice appreciated! [/quote1228070607] November 30, 2008 at 7:06 pm #172320hef Memberi am inclined to say that you guys shouldn’t put too much stock in what this third party, made by an unknown, program says about your battery.
there are a lot of different temp analysis programs out there made by third parties for use when overclocking and the variation of reading between each of them can be ridiculous, with not one of them being the “true” reading. it’s even been proven that the bios itself often doesnt report such things as voltage and temperature accurately. so basically, don’t worry about it too much. if you start to only get an hour out of your battery, then i’d start questioning it.we all know that at some point the battery will cack it, like all other batteries, if it happens to be within twelve months then so be it, you’ll get a new one for free. trying to prevent it’s wear is futile at best. [/quote1228074970]This completely echoes my sentiments, especially the last line. Use and be happy! November 30, 2008 at 8:09 pm #172302Serendip Member[quote1228075703=Freddy]

I dont particularily trust this figure though. I have a well used two year old Gateway that has about 15 minutes less battery than when I bought it. Nice tray tool to monitor battery in % though November 30, 2008 at 8:34 pm #172336WilliamYZF Member[quote1228077161=s162000]

[/quote1228077161]I am very impressed, my experience with Sony batteries has perhaps influenced my pessimistic outlook on battery life. November 30, 2008 at 9:52 pm #172290Rsaeire MemberMy NC10’s battery wear is at 3.8% and I have had my NC10 for just over 2 weeks. I first installed battery bar over a week ago and it hasn’t moved from the aforementioned percentage. November 30, 2008 at 9:54 pm #172307Freddy MemberWhat does you battery bar say after “Capacity” and after Battery Wear, i.e what are the values? November 30, 2008 at 10:13 pm #172351samtheman MemberI’m still waiting for my NC10, over 2 week wait now!! battery life was 1 major reason for purchase. My current sharp laptop (5 years old) has only recently started to die quite quickly when running on battery, so I’m hoping technology has improved since then not got worse, as previously mentioned, just use it as normal and unless you get less than a couple of hours wouldn’t worry just yet!!! But I would use plug power when possible!! December 1, 2008 at 1:24 am #172303Serendip MemberI think I’m going to follow the “don’t sweat it” advice and delete the Battery Bar, or maybe keep it, and sneak up on it now and again! December 1, 2008 at 2:09 am #172331undo MemberAfter 2.5 weeks, BatteryBar reports 3.8% wear on my battery, whatever that means. The way I look at it, chances are by the time this battery wears out, Windows 7 SP2 will be out and I’ll be ready to eBay this NC10 and buy a new one, which will get me a new battery along with the new OS. But I’m one of those who swaps computers pretty frequently anyway.
