Can anyone please enlighten us hoe to downgrade the BIOS to the 02CA version? After the 04CA upgrade I get a black screen (stutter) after I logon on my system. (win xp, 1 GB RAM)
Thank you in advance.
I was also looking for a downgrade procedure, as I wanted to back out the 05CA version. I emailed Samsung support…hopefully they will answer.
Just download and install the 04CA firmware 😕

Well, I’ve done that, but your suggestion doesn’t work. The program just says “you have a newer BIOS version” and exits. I tried various command line switches, but didn’t find any. It’s been a long standing issue that there is no apparent way to downgrade the BIOS once you’ve gone to a new version.
You can extract the 04CA.WPH.gz from the __Samsung_Update folder in the temp directory.
Steps:
1.Run the updater.
2.You need to set folder permissions (google how to set ‘Deny’ for execute under XP home – it’s a simple reg change to trick XP think it is in safe mode)
2. continued: Set deny permission for execute for everyone for ‘__Samsung_Update’ folder in the temp directory.
Since bios updater cannot execute the file it extracted it bombs out (exits).
Now set the permissions back to ‘Allow’.
Copy the 04CA.WPH.gz file from the __Samsung_Update folder. Extract the 04CA.WPH from it using winrar.
3. You can flash this bios file using winflash software.
