I just ran it last night. I noticed the HDD password – interesting. Also, in boot order, there is now a listing for AHCI HDD4. At least I’m pretty sure it’s new – didn’t notice it before…

O3CA already had both of those.January 4, 2009 at 3:35 am #176905Serendip MemberUpdated from 03CA today. Update was easy, no problem with function keys. (Phew!) The fan rarely cycled on before, now it does regularly… often. 🙁 Whether a coincidence or not, battery wear went from 5.8 (where it had always been) to 7.7… that was when it finished rebooting after the update. 🙁 January 6, 2009 at 3:11 pm #176910Freddy MemberI had the similar experience before but after charging the battery fully and then used the battery calibration in BIOS over night and the recharge fully again the battery drain went down to 5.8% again so I would suggest that you try this. [/quote1231254619]January 8, 2009 at 6:59 pm #176906Serendip MemberThanks, Freddy… I tried, and it’s still at 7.7%. Maybe I’ll sneak up on it again in a few days. Thank you! [quote1231441138=Freddy]

[/quote1231254619][/quote1231441138] January 14, 2009 at 12:34 am #176897Chirimolla MemberI’ve just upgraded from 02CA, skipping 03CA altogether. Had to run the app twice, to flash the MICOMM and then the BIOS, but other than that, no problems. All function keys working fine. I can confirm that the HDD Password options were there in 02CA, so this update hasn’t changed that. January 14, 2009 at 1:00 am #176898Chirimolla MemberI do seem to be getting a SAMSUNG logo flashing up on my screen for less than a second when I first boot up, which I’m sure I never saw before. January 14, 2009 at 1:34 am #176919siryak MemberIm running 02 and I get the Samsung logo. My question to you guys is should I upgrade to 04 or just stick with 02? January 14, 2009 at 7:23 am #176943Szabs MemberIm running 04 and i can see no difference… Upgrade 🙂 January 15, 2009 at 11:34 am #176901donka MemberYou can always downgrade back to a previous BIOS version if you need to so always worth upgrading and seeing how it performs for you. January 16, 2009 at 4:19 pm #176962nmonckton MemberHow long does the BIOS update take – I’ve had the little green caterpillar going backwards and forwards for almost half an hour, but am rather loathe to turn the thing off. [/quote1232127077]Update takes a few minutes; 3 or 4 (didn’t clock it and I’m not Tag Heuer so give or take 1 or 2 minutes). 30 minutes to update? No way! Don’t know if you can turn off the netbook during upgrade. Doesn’t seem like a clever idea to me… Maybe someone else can comment on that January 16, 2009 at 10:07 pm #176907Serendip Member[quote1232143512=nmonckton]

[/quote1232143512]It was minutes here, too, didn’t really pay attention, but less than five or so. If you use a firewall, is it turned off? Anything else that could cause interference? January 26, 2009 at 10:45 pm #176986tocasa MemberI’ve just updated to .04CA this evening and have been monitoring my power consumption with the excellent battery bar utility. With wi-fi on, BT off, screen on three bars in quiet mode, browsing this wesite, I’ve seen a discharge rate of about 6000 to 8000 mW. This appears to be better than my previous bios, where I typically had power consumption of 8000 to 10000mW with the same conditions. So hopefully a decent improvement – I’ll report back in a few days… Tip: close down your antivirus before running the update – Kaspersky thought the update was malware and wanted permission to let it continue. But the bios update had disabled my mouse / keyboard, so I couldn’t grant it. January 28, 2009 at 8:58 pm #176987tocasa Member[quote1233176082=tocasa]

[/quote1233176082]Hmm, not so sure this bios has significantly improved my power consumption anymore. Maybe a slightly lower minimum power consumption, but the battery life is still about six hours for me. January 28, 2009 at 10:40 pm #176985Camo Yoshi MemberHow easy is it to downgrade the BIOS?
