December 25, 2008 at 9:30 pm #176953Sweet-P MemberHow many people have had the FN keys function lost? This is important to me as I use them quite often. I think I’ll wait to see how many others did the upgrade and the results with the function keys. Thanks. December 26, 2008 at 12:02 am #176964Zip Memberanyone who has lost their brightness and wireless on/off fn-keys needs to install samsung easy display manager December 26, 2008 at 1:18 am #176977wibem MemberProblem is solved, see the posting before. December 26, 2008 at 7:03 am #176942Szabs MemberI installed the latest bios as well, so far i experienced no difference at all… Samsung should document the changes… December 26, 2008 at 8:56 am #176916OhSnap MemberI installed it also. Seems like the fan comes on more than it used to. December 28, 2008 at 2:02 pm #176979ceppie MemberJust flashed it everything goes ok did it 1 time micron and bios.

It will probably be running an older BIOS version. You can check what version you have by going into the BIOS when your computer starts up, the version information is on the BIOS Main page. December 29, 2008 at 5:44 pm #176981jay_2k Member[quote1230572631=Alfihar]

[/quote1230572631]ok i pressed F2 when i restarted and the bios version is 0C3A. is it worth updating? December 29, 2008 at 5:55 pm #176924Alfihar Participant[quote1230573185=jay_2k]ok i pressed F2 when i restarted and the bios version is 0C3A. is it worth updating?[/quote1230573185]
As Samsung doesn’t say what the changes are it’s harder to say.The newer BIOS has an extra option to control the fan and may have some tweaks to some power settings resulting in slightly longer battery life. I haven’t experienced any downsides after updating. December 29, 2008 at 10:27 pm #176982jay_2k MemberI may as well give it ago. if it improves the battery a little it’s well worth it! Thanks December 30, 2008 at 1:20 am #176967Blueboy MemberI just upgraded from 02CA to 04CA. I had no problems. I only had to run it once and no problems with the Fn keys. But using the Battery Status application I had 8.0w usage before the upgrade and 8.0w after the upgrade (50% brightness and 800Mhz). So, I don’t think there is any power advantage with this update. At least not for me. December 30, 2008 at 4:39 am #176915riffraff MemberI think my fan is cycling itself off more with the new bios than before. January 2, 2009 at 10:59 am #176952MrBeardy MemberI have the same experience as BlueBoy. A few things changed in BattStat like the cpu speed was 798 instead of 800 before, and my power usage never dropped below 8w for any period of time. I have XP installed, maybe vista is more efficient in this aspect? January 3, 2009 at 9:33 pm #176983fpp Member[quote1231018375=Freddy]
Noticed the same thing about powerdrain after updating. 9:05 is quite good 🙂

Maybe a fix for the USB controller drain you mention in your tweaking guide ?…
