BIOS version .04CA released

How many people have had the FN keys function lost? This is important to me as I use them quite often. I think I’ll wait to see how many others did the upgrade and the results with the function keys. Thanks.

I installed the latest bios as well, so far i experienced no difference at all… Samsung should document the changes…

Just flashed it everything goes ok did it 1 time micron and bios.

It will probably be running an older BIOS version.

You can check what version you have by going into the BIOS when your computer starts up, the version information is on the BIOS Main page.

ok i pressed F2 when i restarted and the bios version is 0C3A. is it worth updating?

As Samsung doesn’t say what the changes are it’s harder to say.

The newer BIOS has an extra option to control the fan and may have some tweaks to some power settings resulting in slightly longer battery life.

I haven’t experienced any downsides after updating.

I just upgraded from 02CA to 04CA. I had no problems. I only had to run it once and no problems with the Fn keys. But using the Battery Status application I had 8.0w usage before the upgrade and 8.0w after the upgrade (50% brightness and 800Mhz). So, I don’t think there is any power advantage with this update. At least not for me.

I think my fan is cycling itself off more with the new bios than before.

I have the same experience as BlueBoy. A few things changed in BattStat like the cpu speed was 798 instead of 800 before, and my power usage never dropped below 8w for any period of time. I have XP installed, maybe vista is more efficient in this aspect?
