December 23, 2008 at 6:55 am #176941Szabs MemberI’m glad that there are lots of brave people who already updated. I’m still waiting for a perfect review whether it would good to upgrade or not. Thank you guys, keep up the good work! December 23, 2008 at 8:02 am #176926Slackadder MemberUpgraded. Fan seems quieter, less coming on/faster. Early days yet though!!! … I wonder if it’s a problem with virus/firewall or other running applications that is making it take two goes other people. They only change I’ve noticed is the ability to set the fan control in BIOS
[/quote1230022104]Dunno, I use AVG Internet Security on my NC10 December 23, 2008 at 9:05 am #176913eldaras MemberI think another extra option in the BIOS is the “HDD PASSWORD” I haven’t seen it before in the NC10. Anyone knows if this password is set in the HDD (to prevent accessing the information even if the HDD is removed) December 23, 2008 at 10:07 am #176908iceman17 MemberI’ve done the update and have noticed the fan is now a little quiter than before. I have left the fan speed set to auto in the bios. I have not noticed any other changes as of now though December 23, 2008 at 10:44 am #176973jrdtunes MemberIs this update recommended? Any negative side effects? December 23, 2008 at 10:59 am #176976wibem MemberThe negative side effect of the BIOS update is that some keyboard -functions are lost, the brightness- and the wlan-button are disabled.
 Has anyone experienced the same?December 23, 2008 at 11:01 am #176974jrdtunes Member… December 23, 2008 at 12:10 pm #176914eldaras Member[quote1230034207=wibem]

[/quote1230030045]Doesn’t sound too good… Is this the first bios update since release of the NC10?

ALL Fn+ keys working good before or after BIOS updateDecember 23, 2008 at 2:10 pm #176957soutthpaw MemberUpdated, All my Fn keys are working fine, I had eset anti virus and spybot and spy eraser running when i did update and no problems.. I am definitely noticing that I am using less power than before. running battery manager I am getting 6.3- 6.6 watts while i am typing this message with my virus software running, on customized profile with lowest screen brightness…. and min processor speed setting, at least one or two watts below what i was getting before and the only change was the bios update!
would like to hear if others are getting improved battery life with update
December 23, 2008 at 4:08 pm #176937 December 23, 2008 at 4:08 pm #176937RickGr4 MemberNo problems here although like others I had to run the flash program twice. It appears the first flash updated the Micom and the second flash updated the BIOS. My function keys are working just fine using either XP or Vista. December 23, 2008 at 4:40 pm #176920Alfihar ParticipantJust noticed when running powertop the BIOS now reports the C4 state, in addition to C1 and C2. I’m pretty sure it didn’t used to. Can anyone else who has powertop (or another tool to check the processor states) and the old BIOS confirm the change. December 23, 2008 at 9:54 pm #176896Galego Member[quote1230069229=Slackadder]
