Unfortunately Linux Mint 11 didn’t work either. Attempt to play avi file caused the system to crash again :(.As for now I’ve installed kubuntu ver. 10.04.02 and it works fine: dvd playback smooth, avi file too. CD playback with Amarok also worked. 😀

I’m very green Linux user and a blonde ;). I had installed kubuntu 11.04 on my NC20. The effect was that I could not play any audio CD (using external Samsung CD/DVD drive) and any attempt to play video (either using the external drive or a usb stick caused the system to crash.

Now I’m running Ubuntu 11.04, plays CD’s and mp3 ok (totem and banshee player) but crashes with video playback all the same :(. I know that it’s probably a question of the Via Nano driver.. still working on it…

If you had no problems with video playback running Linux Mint 11 I might try this one..
