MemberI definitely wouldn’t try flashing the nc10 bios to the n310. I doubt it would allow you to, and if it did, I doubt your pc would boot!
In my ubuntu travels, if i see any ideas for you, i will post back.
I haven’t done thorough testing, but I think that I have fixed my flaky wifi issue (by editing a text file). I will have a couple of days play with it and see what happens – if it’s successful, then I’ll post the solution.V15
MemberHey JonJ – I’d be interested to know if you do find a way to update the bios without windows (as i want to remove win7 at some point).
How does the wifi work for you? With the default install, I find it a bit buggy and flaky. For example, I have just booted into ubuntu and every page was taking ages to load up, but in win7, its all fine.
I’m going to have a look for some different drivers.

MemberNetwork manager requesting key to unlock
On standard install, every time network manager tries to connect to your wifi, it prompts for a password. This is not too much hassle, but there is a simple solution. If you go into synaptics package manager, search for and install “wcid”. This is an alternative network manager that doesnt have this problem but works fine.V15
Memberit’s the simplest thing ive ever done – close all your programs, plug in the ac and hit “go”…not like the old days when you had to create a bootable floppy, run the software, risking bricking your pc

MemberI can only suggest two things:
1. plug it in for half an hour before trying to switch on (could be completely drained)
2. send it to samsung for repair.Hopefully someone else will have more insight than me
Good luck!

MemberI downloaded the most up to date firmware from the samsung website and the brightness keys work splendidly!
Thanks a lot – I can keep playing now!
The next task is to figure out whether or not the wifi is flaky – it was a little under 9.04, especially from suspended/hibernated status.
Thanks!

MemberI have put koala on the n110, and am a bit disappointed…the brightness doesnt work (i can’t brighten or dim at all, with or without the hotkeys) Wireless works, and i have played a little bit, but until i can fix the brightness, there’s little point going too far with it.
I’m going to keep checking to see if someone fixes it, then i plan to see if everything else works, and move over completely
I do like the gui on 9.10, very nice indeed.

Membercant you just hook up a usb cable, and put the blackberry in data mode…much quicker and easier. the bberry will show up as an external hard disk

MemberIn very simple terms (because I’m very simple lol), you will notice a difference if you have lots of programs running at the same time (including lots of firefox tabs etc)
If you go to task manager (right click on the toolbar, and hit task manager), then Performance, there should be a few graphs. The one labelled “Memory” gives you an idea of how much of your current 1gb you are using, You will probably manage fine with 1gb…having said that, it is so cheap, you might as well go for the upgrade, and im sure someone will be along to show you what works and is cheap (i hope so, as i fancy upgrading my n110).
Hope that helps

MemberI think that the key is the type of user you are. typically, i like to have lots and lots of apps running simultaneously, but i soon learnt that this isnt very good on the entbook., i am gradually getting used to closing apps when im finished with them, which has helped a lot.
Now, even with the Aero etc all on, i can still use the n110 no problems at all under w7, and i havent yet gone for a ram upgrade (i.e. still 1gb)
i guess its a user-preference issue really…what suits one and all that
I’m still going to try unr when koala comes out – a little over a week to wait!

MemberUnfortunately the beta is closed, so there is no official download anymore. There was a limited number of downloads available.
There are, however, “other” sources, but these are clearly not the sort of thing that can be discussed here.
