MemberWhere else would you plug headphones?
If you meant the mic socket then I have often done that, and it still works.

MemberHi leasious,
It does seem rather serious, if nothing works so far.
I would suggest trying to get hold of some external bootable media from a friend or colleague, and seeing if it will boot at all. A bootable USB memory stick might give you an idea as to whether the HDD is the fault or not.

MemberWelcome to the forum ACSlater,
Samsung don´t provide the media for reinstalling the OS on the CDs any more. The simplest route, by far, would be for you to F4 at boot, and put the system back to exactly how you originally set it up.
Just as if doing an OS reinstall though, make sure you have a reliable backup of your data before doing so.

MemberNo problem John, my visits are erratic too.
I think I learn more than I help, but it´s good to provide some sort of answer where possible, that´s the idea of forums 🙂

MemberHi Jez,
At the bottom I see
Copy and paste put in those bullet points, they are listed horizontally as below. And the only post with “Edit” I see is my own.

MemberHi Enkeixpress,
I use CCleaner and Revo Uninstaller, and there are plenty of other free programs available to keep things tidy on a netbook too 🙂
tonytb
MemberThe sorting looks good, thanks Jez.

MemberWelcome to the forum CaptainTuba,
There are a lot of questions there which only you can answer I think. The NB30 seems to be a sturdy machine though, and should cope with all you have mentioned.
As far as the OS goes, at some point it will become necessary to use the latest one, but a lot of people are still very happy with XP, even downgrading in some instances. Although software writers will start to alienate XP users, see the new WLM 2011 for example.
If you have many tabs in use then I might suggest that more memory be near the top of your shopping list.
Good luck with your purchase 🙂

MemberWelcome to the forum rific,
70c seems a little on the high side. Is your N120 used on a hard surface or on something which may be restricting airflow through the vents?

MemberWelcome to the forum Captarmchair,
The Win 7 on the HP will still really be just licensed only to that machine, and replacing the screen shouldn’t be hard. It’s a lot cheaper these days too.
Your Go should be able to be reset to how it was first set up by pressing F4 at bootup. I run Win 7 Ultimate on my NC10, there is not really any extra overhead over Win 7 Home, you can turn off any fancy stuff you don’t want running.
You may want to back up any important files before trying F4.
Hopefully you will end up with two useful machines again.

MemberThe ‘vastly increased speed’ claim is totally annihilated by the use of Adblock Plus and NoScript with Firefox, as IE will be having to render all of those flash adverts that Firefox users don’t have to.
I can see for myself that a lot of sites are many, many times faster to load in Firefox than in IE 9.
tonytb
MemberI have IE 9 on mine. I use Firefox generally, but some sites just *still* need IE.
It looks clean, and takes up little screen estate, I don’t use it enough to say how well it performs day to day though.

MemberWelcome to the forum scripting25,
I have always assumed that webcams are ´fixed focus´, I have not heard of the ability to change focus on them.
