Well Ive lost some screws from the bottom of my NC10 oops!
[/quote1239038845]LOL, most people have trouble getting them out in the first place, nevermind losing them….. 😀
Good question though, I would like to replace mine as they’re buggered.

I know, but I don’t expect to run anything like Doom III or even newer games, either. Point is I need a mobile device for work and I also want to have some fun with it. Gaming capabilities are a big point, but I’m thinking about older games like Max Payne, GTA SA (will this work on NC10 & NC20?), older GTAs, Emulators, SCUMMVM, …
[/quote1239037253]Like I said, most of these games/emulators have been tried on the NC10, check this thread for playable and this thread for non-playable. Perhaps a NC20 owner has tried some games and would be kind enough to post the results for you.

There has to be at least some difference, though. NC10 and NC20 are based on completely different architectures. I’ve seen some benchmarks with worser results for the NC20, and I’ve seen some benchmarks with worse results for the NC10. I’m confused… :-).
[/quote1239037253]Of course they are different architectures, but they are both restricted by the same thing; lack of hardware TnL, which puts them on a level playing field more or less. Anything from 4 years and back should run ok. I believe the Chrome is better at 720p and 1080p video but slightly worse for gaming.

Thanks, makes sense.Thought i might ask this question in here as well while i’m at it – i messed around with the Atheros WLAN utility that came with the driver and somehow managed to completely remove the Ethernet network connection and need it back as i now can not connect via Ethernet any more, just WLAN. Quite ironic considering my problem was quite the opposite before.
The Network connection i have is “Wireless Network connection 3”. Now, why it is called “3” i have no clue. Something’s definitely wrong here and i need the Ethernet network connection back. The internal LAN is enabled in the Bios, so everything checks out there. I tried using the “create new connection” but have gotten nowhere there.
Hope that made sense, appreciate all the help and time.
[/quote1239027557]Sorry dude, this isn’t Windows tech support! If you have messed around with some settings, mess them back again! Just re-trace your steps.

Hi
[/quote1239026943]Hi , welcome to Windows tech support. 😕
[quote1239026943=Grandaduk]
I have just bought the Samsung NC10 and can connect (WPA2) to the internet via my router however unable to use browsers. Not working though.
[/quote1239026943]??
[quote1239026943=Grandaduk]
Skype connects OK and my virus programme is able to update.
Get error message “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” when I open browser.
[/quote1239026943]If Skype can connect you are connected to the Internet. Have you recently changed any settings in Internet Explorer? Do you use a firewall?

However, i can not seem to have two computers using the wireless internet at once, then it does not work. Why is that? Perhaps i need to assign a different IP to one of them or something? I’m so green at this.
[/quote1239010760]If you are manually assigning an IP address the answer is yes. You can’t have two computers on the network with the same IP.

The screen is the other limiting factor though, all the bad guys do appear very very ickle on a 10″ screen! So an NC20 would be slightly more preferable from that pov.
[/quote1238967408]That is very true Jez. Are you hankering after an NC20 yourself me thinks? I think Samsung should be sending freebies to you for all the promotion you’re doing here!

Starting to grow the wiki page too: Samsung NC10 Games
[/quote1238967408]Cool, will have to give you a hand with that!

When i perform a Network Diagnostics test it for some reason tells me that my signal strength is weak and when i check the log i find the following that might be of interest:“Was not able to match the standard-gateway address with ARP”
[/quote1238965942]
This means that the wireless card cannot find the router because it has been given the wrong address to look for (the default gateway address)Can you do this-
Go on the PC that can connect to the internet,
(In Windows XP), click StartType RUN
Type COMMAND
A command box will come up, type IPCONFIG/ALL
Then reply back here with all of the numbers from “IP address” down to “DNS servers” in that order
s162000
MemberOk, there could be any number of things causing this problem….
If you can discover your wireless network and it’s signal strength on the NC10 this probably rules out hardware issues, coupled with the fact that you can access the internet with your other laptop over wireless.
Try:
Downloading the latest drivers
*Establishing a wired network connection, does this work?
*Turning your firewall off briefly to see if it is blocking Internet access (Zone alarm had an issue a while back caused by a MS update)
*Comparing the IP/DNS settings from your other laptops, copy them if necessary
*Do you know if you have MAC address filtering setup?
*Double checking the wireless key you have entereds162000
MemberJust to add, if a game runs on the NC10 (check the ‘games that run on the NC10’ thread) then it will probably run on the NC20.

Trouble with them claiming class 10 is it could mean anything, if the class isn’t official recognised it means nothing.
[/quote1238945796]Have you seen this product page? Looks like your card but no mention of class 10 there, perhaps you do indeed have a class 6 but there was some printing error on the cards. Like Freddy said just do a benchmark to be sure.

MemberSorry to hear of your misfortune. No signs of their treachery in the Ebay feedback?

MemberHi and welcome to the forum!

What i would like to know is, as the NC10 seems a little sluggish at times,
[/quote1238920981]Doing what?
[quote1238920981=Fuller]
I just need to know what you guys would recommend me removing from the process list. What was the first things that you altered when you received the NC10 in regards to software etc?
[/quote1238920981]The NC10 comes with very little bloatware, the only thing I would get rid of is McAfee anti-virus. Details here on how to remove it. Also have read through Freddys tweaking thread for some tips.

HahaApril 5, 2009 at 7:48 am in reply to: Samsung NC10 Special Edition vs. HP 2140 (new HD version) #188490s162000
MemberI think the NC10 has better looks than the 2140, especially in the black 😉 The advantage the 2140 has is obviously the screen resolution. However I also saw somewhere that the 6 cell battery is going to jut out quite a bit.
