MemberThanks for pointing me to http://www.sammymobile.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?45510 which I had not seen.
So is there any recent 10 inch Samsung netbook that has an actual 10.1 inch screen as advertised and which respects the 1024 x 600 aspect ratio, or are all now 5 mm too short and distort everything in height?

MemberThanks Tony. I initially came here to understand how this was possible and if there is a solution to the aspect ratio problem. I now have understood that there apparently is none. What I still don’t know is if this is specific to the N220, or a general Samsung choice, something I cannot verify online since the specs issued by Samsung are incorrect and picked up by everyone else.

Member44 reads and no response – does it bother anyone else that the aspect ratio is not respected and that the screen is smaller than advertised? I called Samsung customer service and the person I talked to said he was not aware of the problem, but then confirmed that the height of the screen on his N220 is also 5mm shorter than it should be to respect the 1024 x 600 aspect ratio.
My MSI Wind is perfect, 223mm x 130mm which translates into a 1.71x width to height ratio identical to 1024 x 600 and a 10.1 inch diagonal, while the Samsung N220 is 1.78x and 10.0 inches diagonally. All 10.1 inch ASUS Eeepcs I have seen also respect that size and aspect ratio. How is it on the NC10 and other Samsungs?
Why is it that Samsung is deviating from what seemed to be a standard and markets a 10.0 netbook as 10.1 (rather than just “10 inch”), which in most countries constitues misleading advertising and possibly fraud? Because they believe they can get away with it as few people notice or care?
