MemberThe only issue is how it was licensed. Some MS OEM software licenses are attached to the computer it came with. I have no idea of how Works+Word is typically licensed, so I can’t give you any advice about it. You’d want to read through the docs that came with the computer and/or are on the software disc.
Similarly, if it uses validation you might have to get someone to allow validation on the new machine.
Otherwise, there’s nothing stopping you from installing it on another machine. You can just copy the files onto an external or network drive and install from there.

MemberI think it’d be hard for ThisIs2009 to turn off UAC in XP Home…. :)
ThisIs2009: What is the error message you’re getting?

MemberCan you give us the full model name? Creative’s website doesn’t list just a “Zen Plus”. (Model names with Zen and Plus include Zen Moo Plus, Zen Nano Plus, Zen Stone Plus, and Zen V Plus.)
Does it act differently with the NC10 plugged in?
When you plug it in and Windows is done trying to recognize it, does something new show up in the Device Manager? (Windows-R, then type devmgmt.msc and Enter.)

MemberA Windows screensaver is just a program renamed to .scr instead of .exe. You could make Notepad your screensaver if you wanted, but it wouldn’t be a very good one because it doesn’t know how to react to the things screensavers are supposed to handle. :)
There’s plenty of screensavers out there that do stuff like show pictures and play sounds, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding one.
Because a screensaver is just like any other program, you can open it up with a resource viewer like PE Explorer or ASMEX (in case it’s a .NET app) and see if there’s a sound file embedded inside. (I’m assuming you’ve already checked the options to see if it lets you pick the sound file it uses.)
Hope this helps.

MemberSystemHand is the internal name for the Critical Stop sound event. (Normally played along with a dialog with the Stop sign icon and hand.)

MemberFWIW, I’d much rather sell my old netbook to a friend or relative who could use it, and prefer to buy brand new laptops of any size.
Also, I’m guessing your company’s in the UK? (From the list of “where did you buy it” answers.) You might want to say that in your “come take our survey” ad posts.

MemberFWIW, I use PowerArchiver, which is a commercial product. I like how it works compared to apps like 7-zip and WinRAR. Yes, I’ve actually paid for my copy. :)

MemberYes, there’s a bunch of people running the RC. I’m sure they’ll be along shortly, or you could pop into the Windows 7 forum and ask more specific questions. :)
Hope this helps.

MemberVery true. Daggerfall was probably a bit ahead of its time, much like Alternate Reality games with their nifty 3D engine and multiple stat tracking on the 8-bits.

MemberFWIW, when I bought my white NC10 it was the same price as the others at NewEgg. Currently the white NC10 isn’t listed there, but the White N120 is the same price as the others.
Maybe they’re running out of white at the moment? (Market forces, as was mentioned.)

MemberMy NC10’s pretty quiet, much quieter than the laptop it replaced. (No surprise there.) The wrist area does get warm; IIRC, the reviews put it in the 90s.
Hope you enjoy your new computer.
