MemberThe same thing happened to me when I had Windows 7 on here. I think it might be down to the installation method? I’m using the RC as my primary desktop OS.
I copied all of the contents from the DVD onto a USB Stick and installed via that, I wonder if the flashy animated startup may be down to installing via the DVD? Who knows…
That was with the build 7057, I’m surprised to hear of it happening with the RC too. 🙁

MemberI’ve used Magic Disc for a long time now, it’s a simple lightweight app that sits in the System Tray and allows for booting of a few different image types as a virtual drive – oh and it’s free! 🙂

MemberPersonally, the collective reason for me loving 7 so much is that it captures the visual sleekness of Vista while maintaining a near identical level of performance to how XP would run on modern hardware. I’ll admit that one shallow thing I love so much is the dynamic changing wallpapers – does anyone else love that as much as I do?! 😀
If you’ve used Vista and become accustomed to it, you’ll especially know what I mean, it’s so much slicker. UAC is much less intrusive with 7 and is easier to disable completely than Vista. Surprisingly, with the NC10 in mind it doesn’t murder the battery as quickly as you might think and given a couple of exceptions it’s hardware support is superb.
Windows 7 is a huge thumbs up for me, running of build 7057. I can’t wait for the final release, I’m genuinely excited for using it, the beta is already my primary OS on the netbook and my desktop.

MemberI’ve got to thank the original poster purely for the Hide Menubar extension for Firefox, I love just that little bit extra real estate on my screen, Firefox looks awesome now! 😀

MemberI decided to give UltraVNC a go, and that definitely seems to be what I want. I have (from what I can initially see) full control over my desktop using that 🙂
It just appears to be much more powerful than the bog standard Remote Desktop options available to Windows, the extra settings will need some getting used to and playing about with.

MemberHah! I’m on, I’ve got Windows 7 remotely on the NC10 now and I’m surprised at how silky smooth it runs! Colour me impressed! 🙂
I suppose I didn’t suspect though that I don’t have control or usage of the desktops hardware. I’m unable to change my display properties to enable or disable the HDTV as a secondary monitor, any music plays through the NC10.
Would other solutions allow for me to do the same thing as I’m doing now but to also take advantage of that hardware rather than the netbook’s own?
So far, a happy bunny! 😀

EDIT: I’ve at least found out how to get sound playing through the desktop instead which was easy enough. Shame about no monitor support other than the netbook’s own though! 🙂

MemberWindows Live Messenger works absolutely brilliantly on the NC10 I find, I can put the video into large size as well and even full screened on video calls works great. *Thumbs Up*

MemberThanks for the replies everyone 🙂
I’ll definitely be taking more of a look at RDP tonight, a friend at work also mentioned VNC which I’ve heard of alot over the years but never looked at!
I think more than anything the learning would be the best part, but it’d be nice to have a full 1080p display with some use other than video heh. I’d love to use it more often but the way my gear is laid out I’d need a total overhaul and I think alot of wireless inputs…. or a coffee table! 😛
