MemberSorry for the lateness but I did call Samsung, there was no problems in getting the issue sorted. They first got me to do a system restore with the built in Samsung software. That didn’t work (didn’t expect it too) so they sent a courier to pick my laptop up. It was away for 4 days and when I got it back all was sorted.
It was relatively painless procedure, all done within the warranty, and all is working fine now.Lucius
MemberSorry to drag up an old tread but just wondering how you got on? Or if anyone else had any further advice on what RAM is best?

MemberCheers for the link but the problem with doing it this way is that when you run Mint you are also running windows in the background. Also due to the fact it is inside windows, any problems caused by windows will still occur in Mint. For a true copy of the Linux OS you need to install it from DOS, this can be done via USB or an external CD/DVD drive.
When I looked into installing Ubuntu on my PC and my missus laptop there were different opinions but in general installing within Windows is better for testing the system out (like the videos on YouTube) but if your going to be using it as your primary OS its best to be done on start up.If your netbook doesn’t register the USB upon startup, therefore not kicking up the installation, this can be changed in the BIOS setup easily enough.

If you want even more from these kind of machines, the further step is to look for Dual Core Atom + Nvidia Optimus video cards, like the new Asus EeePC 1015PN
I have heard Asus is a good make however if there are any problems with it the parts for repairs are difficult to obtain and are expensive. This is one thing that put me off them, and more towards Samsung. Is this correct?

MemberI’m from the UK, so it’s not going to be as cheap as that :(. Amazon has them for: £280 for the N210 and £320 for the NF210. I’m thinking for the extra £40 I’m better off.. however I will be buying it from my local shop so not sure exactly what the final price will be.
Looks like you’ve had more success with Mint than I’ve had with Ubuntu. May give the Live CD a shot – or rather USB.
I’m a photographer myself and your use of the narrow depth of field and sharp focal points gives a good look to the photos.

MemberThank you for your reply, I have seen your photographs and they are awesome.
I am planning on dual booting mine too, however with ubuntu (I have it on other computers). Do you use Mint KDE on Gnome? And did it work “out the box” or have you had to modify it?
So you would say the NF210 is a better buy than the N210?
Sorry for all the questions and if there is a post somewhere else which I have missed please say.
