MemberI have had my NC10 since they have been released and it’s always fully charged and used on mains power when possible. Battery life still gives a good 6hrs of use with normal use. I may just be lucky but I have alsways used laptops this way and never had any battery issues.

MemberYou can just clone the disk before removing/adding anything.
There are a number of free utils to do this, I use HD Clone from http://www.miray.de The free edition is slow but it works very well.
Im sure others could suggest other free software.

At that price for that spec, I’d bet they’ve been overrun with orders – think I might order one myself 😉Can you remember what the E-value code was for this desktop, Kirk, or was it in Dell Outlet 😕
[/quote1264579967]The offer was only valid for 7 days when I ordered it. I have a contact at Dell who I speak to via work and when he looked at tracking the progress for me he reckons Dell are making a loss on the machine !
As an update, I checked the order status last night and it has now shipped so can’t wait to get my hands on it now ! 🙂

December 23, 2009 at 11:20 am in reply to: Is upgrading from Windows XP on the NC10 to Windows 7 worth it? #207659kirkuk
MemberI dont think i will bother on my NC10 mainly because I dont really need any Win 7 features for what I use it for. I did however upgrade my main laptop and that runs sooo much better with Win 7 than it ever did with Vista !

So, next step? Back up all data & maybe mirror the harddrive & consider this a warning of imminent problems around the corner? Any other advise or comments?
[/quote1261063335]I think thats exactly what I would do.
I wonder if Samsung do this as part of their repair .. Giving it a “Sammy Whack !”

MemberIm not sure why this happens but for a clean desktop without clutter you could try using Fences from stardock.com.

Not only deserves a medal, she steadfastly refused reward.I’ve gotten it back, and indeed, the only damage is cosmetic. Hard drive checks out clean, no screen damage, WIFI, bluetooth and all the other bits work fine.
Total damage: front chrome has a small chip.
[/quote1257941962]Send her some flowers ! Heck she deserves em !
Nice to hear there are some genuinely good people around.

MemberIf I remeber correctly, the 9 cell is slightly bigger and so changes the angle at which the NC10 sits when typing. Worth bearing in mind if you like it the way it currently is.

MemberIf its still under warranty and there’s no sign of physical damage I would try and get one through Samsung.

MemberRe: Office : You should be able to install this without any probs. MS normally let you install 2 or 3 times before it stops you. If it does stop you then it will give you a telephone number to call and you just have to follow the procedure while sitting in front of your PC. I have done a few times when moving Office around from PC to PC at work and it’s pretty painless.

The Reaplayer browser also does this quite nicely.
[/quote1253189690]I use this as well, works really good and comes with the free realplayer.
