Try [F4] at boot as you see the bios splash screen.
Choose basic restore first and that may resolve it.
If not choose full restore but the data on the C: drive will be lost.Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

The router was bricked in the upgrade proces; now it’s a switch/hub.
(D-Link routers, I found, often have issues with firmware upgrades via the www web interface.)
That’s a shame, can it not be revived with a factory hard re-set, although you have probably already tried that 🙁
If you can use it as a network switch it can’t be totally bricked I would have thought and in that case it may still be recoverable?
Hope this helps

It sounds like the hdd is faulty so best covered under warranty if you still have some?
Have you installed anything that may have corrupted the hdd? (eg. Linux)
You could try resetting the bios defaults – [F2] [F9] [F10] and maybe resetting the cmos.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Have you tried Samsung Recovery with the [F4] key at boot?
If that fails then it sounds like the hdd is faulty so best covered under warranty.

Your problems were probably due to a number of possible reasons including.
1. If you have a slow connection you might be at or near the adsl line length limits. Once over 51db attenuation the synch speed will drop with a corresponding drop in synch/connection speed. Further, noise on the line will vary at different times of the day and in the peak, usually evenings, the db noise margin will drop and when it drops to between 3 and 1 db for example the line throughput will suffer and eventually synch will be lost resulting in loss of connection. After a router re-boot the situation is normally restored and the cycle continues again. There are excellent programs that can monitor the router and line conditions that can really help but router re-boots are a fact of life when poor line conditions prevail.
2. Strong adjacent wifi channels can cause interference and changing the channel to be as far away from the offending channel can help a lot to achieve stability.
3. Finding a ‘compatible’ driver is often key to assisting stability as not all drivers suit all routers.
4. Always check for firmware updates for the router. Often the ADSL software is updated which will often solve drop outs due to line noise. I have a Netgear DG834 router that is ‘ageing’ but a firmware update about a year ago dramatically improved the stability and less re-boots are required.
It’s good to note that your new router is behaving better and I hope it continues 🙂

ParticipantTombenwill – Your welcome.
It rather sounds like a small vertical post from the motherboard switch which engages in the front slider. Possibly a small plastic rod super glued to the motherboard switch slider might just be strong enough but if there is any lateral or tangential force required then it may not hold. Difficult to judge without seeing the setup.
Another way, although not elegant, might be to bypass the switch with a new one wired out to another position on the sammy case, (I did say it wasn’t elegant) 🙂 but there are some very small micro switches available from the likes of Farnell etc. which might fit in say the Kensington lock aperture for example.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

I don’t have an N130 but having read this and other threads on the switch issue I hope I can offer some lateral thinking which may assist.
Checking the part no.3408-001150 at MK-electronic.com it is described as:-
Location M1035 Switch-Slide;4V DC,0.3A,1P2T Parent Part BA92-05894C
Reference pdf can be found hereThat indicates to me that part is a 1 pole 2 throw switch assembly that will be no doubt soldered to the motherboard which will be a tricky replacement excercise.
If someone with the motherboard can read off the actual manufacturers part number on the switch then an OEM data sheet can then be obtained which hopefully will explain how it operates. ie. is there a short plastic tongue which connects to the front case switch slide or is it a part of the switch itself?. If so maybe that part can be utilised without the need to solder in the whole replacement switch.
Can anyone post pictures of the switch and the back of the case slide as it may give further clues.
Hope this helps

Participant__SPC__ – The N110 is virtually identical to the NC10 AFAIK, the exterior trim being slightly different. This is the best NC10 teardown I have come across and although it’s quite an old article it is very detailed.
Tutorial – Samsung NC10 Touchscreen Installation
Look also on youtube as there are several videos on the NC10 strip down.
The slot 2 pci-e space will be found to be vacant but there will be no pci-e connector soldered to the motherboard 🙁
Hope this helps

ParticipantJoeKickman – Welcome to the forum.
You can back up the MBR with various utilities complete with the partition table but it would perhaps be best to keep it out of the Recovery Partition in order to make it more accessible when needed. Just a thought.

AFAIK all sammy netbooks are capable of switching to the 1024×768 resolution. This being achieved with the Samsung Easy Resolution Manager software which is listed on the Samsung download site for the N145, so you should be alright for your special software unless it is too processor dependant.
When using the Intel 8.15.10.1912 graphics driver with the Intel 945 chipset it is possible to achieve 1152×864 resolution in Win 7 HP and above. Whether this, or with an alternative suitable driver, is achievable in Win 7 Starter and the N145 needs to be verified by an Starter user as it may possibly be one of the restrictions of Starter and or a limitation of the chipset fitted to the N145.
Samsung Easy Display Manager software controls the function keys and allows cursor keys control of volume and brightness. ie. the ‘blue’ keys in conjunction with the Fn function key.
Hope this helps

AFAIK the secret settings menu feature was only available in the 5CA bios, thereafter Samsung withdrew the function from future bios builds.

Check the Service is started in ‘administrative tools’. It’s a Marvell Yukon network adapter on my NC10, yours might be described differently depending on the adapter fitted to your machine. Start up type should be ‘automatic’.
Else re-install/upgrade the lan driver and check the bios settings if they have been changed.
Hope this helps
