ParticipantHmmm…. This issue came up on the forum very recently and it was not found to be the hdd as I recall.
A quick search will turn up the thread 🙂

ParticipantVantri – I wouldn’t worry about WD40 too much, I’ve been using it for years to revive CPU fans and chip cooling fans etc. without problem.
The main issue is to get the WD40 into the bearings which I find easier with the long applicator straw that’s supplied with the cans here in the UK.
I have found that it will extend the life of the fan until the bearings are worn out but once applied re-application is necessary from time to time.
Hope this helps

Participantcyborgcobra – AFAIK the N110 motherboard is identical to the early NC10’s ie. NP-NC10-KA02UK.
Motherboard numbers can be check out at notebookrepair.co.uk and mk-electronic.com
Hope this helps

why samsung did this is strange to say the least but its what they did
i think it was to highlight the dif from the 3G and no 3G version
(sales ploy if you ask me)
The omission of 1x pci-e connector component represents a significant financial saving when upwards of a million NC10’s have been sold 🙂

Participantbrett176 – AFAIK all NC10 motherboards come with the slot 2 space available but not with the pci-e connector soldered in. The exceptions are the Special Edition (SE) which came with a glossy screen and the HAZ model which is fitted with the Samsung 3g card.
My guess is that you had the SE motherboard version and your replacement is the ‘standard’ NC10 motherboard.
Hope this helps.

ParticipantLaban – Welcome to the forum.
The driver may be on the CD that came with the machine?
If not the Cyberlink YouCam software may have been supplied with the NF310 (not sure) but the LG X130 version can be downloaded here which might work for you.Would be interested to know more about the SSD and how you fitted it (pics would be more than welcome) plus your experiences with it if you have time.
btw your English does you proud, no need to apologise 🙂
Hope this helps

That’s good news 🙂jeepers01
Participantnewjeruz – Welcome to the forum.
Good luck with the upgrade and hope the pci-e socket soldering goes well and we like piccies here so look forward to them 🙂
If you are using an external mouse the touchpad can be turned off with [Fn]+[F10] (think the N150+ is the same as my NC10)
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

ParticipantJohnConnor – Welcome to the forum.
I wouldn’t think you are wasting your time looking for an XP driver. What wireless card is fitted to your NC10+ ?
Check in device manager for the make and model and armed with that info you should be able to track down a suitable driver. You will probably need to check through Win 7 for the card info.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

ParticipantGiacomo – Welcome to the forum.
Have you tried the XP audio driver listed on the Samsung download site?
It can be found here
Hope this helps

ParticipantFred232 – I’d ask them for a spec sheet for each of the two screens, what LCD connector is fitted to each and if they are the same. Chances are they are different (number of pins and form factor) so a new/conversion harness will be required to connect to the sammy after checking the respective pinouts.
Then there is the video drivers to consider since AFAIK the N220 and the NF310 both use the Intel GMA 3150 chipset this indicates the NF310 driver should work on the N220.
Another thing to consider is the physical sizes/thickness of the two screens. Presumably the fixing rail arrangement is the same on both.
How much are they quoting for the NF310 screen?
Overall it sounds like an expensive but not impossible mod 🙂Hope this helps
