ParticipantMythor – thanks for posting the info
I had a look at the post but Google translate didn’t do a good enough job for me unfortunately and my German is not too good! but I did get the gist of it 🙂
Could you perhaps enhance the translation a bit, What I would like to establish is if there is any more information on the identification of the tiny pads to solder to, presumably with short wire links, for connection to the card reader. Thanks

Participant[quote1247514019=icecoldstar123]When I bring up the IE homepage ( set to Google ) it just freezes! I can get it to scroll 2 or 3 lines down and then nothing! No response! I have to close it down by end-tasking it ( Ctrl, alt, delete )[/quote1247514019]
Are you able to type another web address and navigate to another site. If so go to MS update and download IE8. Uninstall your IE8 and re-install from the download. If you cannot use your IE8, download Firefox on another machine to a memory stick and install it instead of IE8Quote:My second question is simple…
I’ve created my Samsung restore image before scrubbing MaCafee off of my NC10.
If and when at some point in the future I use Samsung’s restore point in future, does that mean it’ll bring up MaCafee again from now till evermore so long as I have the restore point on my computer?Use Samsung Recovery Solution III to backup your system one you have the sammy stable without McAfee

ParticipantAs a suggestion I would uninstall Chrome as that is the suspect IMHO

Participanticecoldstar123 – Looks like a ZX Spectrum !!!! hehe
My old BBC micro had a much better keyboard and is perhaps nearer to the sammy than the Spectrum – those spongy keys were horrible
🙂 🙂jeepers01
ParticipantSeems like it happens to others – this one seems quite lively having his progress “monitored” ! 🙂 🙂

Participantyes it could possibly be a software problem – re-installation of the sound software would confirm

ParticipantCheck that the jack is a snug fit in the socket or is there any lateral movement resulting in it being a little bit loose? If so it could be that you have an 1/8th inch jack in the 3.5mm sammy socket and being slightly smaller the jack does not quite reliably break the speaker switch contact.
There is a picture on wikipedia which shows the principle of the switch contact operation after the jack is inserted. (The socket in the sammy is different as its a pcb mounted device). When your jack is plugged in it is failing to break the contact
Just a thought & hope it helps
Otherwise as tonytb says it’s a faulty switch contact

Participant[quote1247351463=snipe]Even worse than F-Secure is Norton.[/quote1247351463]
I’ve got Norton on my main quad core vista pc and have to say it runs surprisingly well and I have had no problems with it. It would not have been my first choice but the machine came with a years subscription and I have found no reason to change it as yet.I remember well all the problems it used to cause a few years back and I avoided it like the plague but they seem to have listened and improved it, and as I say, this has surprised me somewhat.
I wouldn’t recommend putting it on a sammy though!! 🙂

ParticipantIn addition to the karaoke tweak you might want to check the settings in the Samsung EDS Controller. Right click the tray icon > Samsung EDS Open
I have found that selecting Music and Enable Auto Volume Control gives the maximum speaker volume
Note: I have not tested with headphones but I have no reason to expect different resultsI didn’t get on with the movie setting as the stereo separation seems weird and unreal on my machine
Let us know how you get on

Participant[quote1247345812=maximusearus]This is the first time i have been on one of these forums so please ” be gentle with me” if I ask something that is really stoopid !!
The main problem is that the sound level even when using headphones is really quiet (to the point you cant hear the dialogue over the engines noise on the plane). From what I can tell I have all the volume settngs to the max …. has anyone got any suggestions?? because my son got bored on our most recent trip after about 30 mins into a 6 hour flight !!! Hello Max welcome to the forum. Your nickname is really apt after reading your volume problem. v.good 🙂
No you are not asking a stupid question at all. Many users have experienced this problem with low volume levels.
Have a read of this thread which I think will help you get the maximum volume out of the NC10

Nice find bern – TUGZip free archiving utility has some good features eg.-
Create self-extracting encrypted archives and Repair corrupted ZIP and SQX archives.

ParticipantI use disposable optical lens cleaning wipes that come in handy sachets. They work well for cleaning my black sammy especially the screen.
If you have stubborn stains try using a bit of Cillit Bang power degreaser on a paper towel, then wipe off smartly with a water damped paper towel. Wouldn’t recommend using it on the screen though but try a test clean on an out of sight area such as the underneath first to make sure it’s ok
It works ok on the palm rest areas on my sammy 🙂jeepers01
ParticipantGlad it seems all fixed now
I’m not sure that Chrome V2.0.172.33 is stable at the moment. On my machine it does not work unless a new tab is opened otherwise it just displays a blank screen, despite a couple of re-installations. :(( -
